Hello i am new to RC trail crawling and i want to get a Axial scx10 but i do not know whether to choose the honcho or rubicon. So I am asking what is the difference between these two trucks, and in your opinion which is the better truck. Thank you

they are basicly the same thing. the only differences are: body, tires, bumpers, and the jeep doesn't have a light kit.I heard both of those tires are good, so you are pretty much just choosing between the body. I would say the jeep is better just because of the bumpers, and, no offence, i don't like the look of the honcho body. and you can get a light kit for pretty cheap.

The Rubicon only came out about a month ago. That alone made me want it over the Honcho (plus the fact that I like the body better anyway). But because it just came and and it's the holiday season, it may be a little hard to find right now.

Think the honcho kit comes with aluminum lower links too. The JK rtr only has the plastic links.

Pretty sure the honcho is plastic links as well, I think the only kits that come with aluminum links/steering is the builders Kit. Personally I would go with the Rubicon, Axial has learned over the years, and changed things, we bought a dingo and a honcho a while back and found there was quite a few minor upgrades the honcho had that the dingo didn't. I would assume there are some small changes as well to the rubicon, tires/bumper right off the bat. The Honcho bumper is horrible for actual wheeling unless you modify it. |

The trepadors are a better tire IMO and the rubicon also has 4 link in the rear to start. The honcho comes with the parts to do the 4 link but if it's already done why not go that route? If it were me hands down i would buy the rubicon!

The bumper mounts on the Rubicon are thicker now and the have the holes in the bottom for a sway bar.

another feature no one has mentioned is the scx10 shocks. the rubicon has silver shafts (hard chrome, or stainless steel ? ) the earlier scx10s (all!) have got shock shafts that are titanium nitrate coated? the older version ones seem to be smoother? but the jeep rubicon is still new to me (not broken in yet).

There are hardware variances between the kit build's and the RTR's. I know that the kit build usually includes lower alloy links... tho' the upper links are still plastic. Whereas the RTR link's (both upper/lower) are all plastic. ^ this is just one example, there may be others Besides offering the kit build or the RTR... Axial also offers 3 different wheel base length options... 12.3" = Honcho, Jeep Rubi Unlimited 4 door (kit/RTR) 12.0" = G6 Jeep (kit only/no RTR) 11.4" = Dingo, 2dr Jeep (kit/RTR) I prefer the longer 12.3" WB SCX-10 chassis irregardless of which body it comes with. I won a Dingo at a raffle... But thought... screw that shorter 11.4" WB Traded that to the LHS for upgrade parts for the Honcho. Then I realized afterwards... I needed that shorter WB to fit my NIB Mojave body. ![]() Oh well, screw'd 'dat If I ever get around to installing the Mojave body... it's gonna get the WB stretched (at the bed) to fit the 12.3" WB. 'cuz IMO... the shorter 11.4" WB is lesser capable. I like my Honcho 'cuz I roll a 1:1 4X Tacoma So much, in fact... that I have ignored my nib Mojave body, that sits there silently waiting for something to happen. I didn't like my Honcho too much at first... but after throwing on some bedsides, alloy links and a small fortune pissed away on other hop ups... I like it better. IMO... choose either the Rubi Unlimited 4 dr or the Honcho. can't go wrong with either choice. The question is... kit build or RTR ? | |

I own both the rubicon and Honcho RTR..the only thing different I could tell that hasn't been mentioned is the battery location on the RTR models...the battery is mounted on the rear of the chassis and not the front on the rubicon. If you choose a rubicon kit or the RTR make sure you do the front mount battery location..Much better climbing ability that way. |
