Re: New SCX10 with Currie Axles 2 Attachment(s) Here is a few at full flex, not to shabby. |
Looks good, great articulation! |
Re: New SCX10 with Currie Axles Holy applesauce those axles sexy |
Re: New SCX10 with Currie Axles They are VP is amazing. Going to pick up some solid brass tubing and start work on the truggy portion. Going to use a buddies Mojave cab for the mock up. I have never done any tube work before, any tips? |
Re: New SCX10 with Currie Axles looks awesome man. have you thought about doing the xr mod to make it wider instead of the wheel widener? i think that may be the route i go. |
Re: New SCX10 with Currie Axles You know I just saw that after I bought everything lol. It was also running Wratih c-hubs and knuckles, it looked sweet. It seems pretty sturdy so far, I took it out this morning and put a pack through it. Everything is still tight and holding strong. I have a Novak 13.5 brushless I may drop in it today. Lots of mixed reviews about it, but Ive never had an issue with mine. And its just laying there with no home. |

looks sick either way. |
Re: New SCX10 with Currie Axles REALLY?!?! F*CK YOU NOVAK!!! I just got done saying never had an issue with the spare 13.5 system I had laying around. Got it installed ran it around the house for a sec, all seemed well. Took it outside for 5 minutes, ESC fried.........Just ordered a HH Trailmaster combo. |
Re: New SCX10 with Currie Axles 1 Attachment(s) Since I had to tear out all the electronics again I decided to clean up the wiring a bit, I am a freak when it come to wires. I got a few extra holes cut in the receive box, shortened all of the leads, re soldered everything. Got all of the wiring inside the receiver box, looks nice and clean. Now I have a wiring plan when my BRXL combo get here. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build 2 Attachment(s) Got my Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster ESC/Motor today after my Novak burned. Ripped everything out....again. Cut down and soldered all of the leads and managed to get all of the wiring inside the stock box. It has been raining all day here so I didn't get to take it outside so I had to settle for the living room. This thing is smoooooth. I am running it with a 3S 5000mah Lipo. This is my first HH setup, now I see how awesome they are. |

Re: Southern SXC10 Build awesome job on the clean wiring. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build 1 Attachment(s) Thanks man, I am a total weirdo when it come to wiring, I get very OCD. Just ordered the meat and potatoes for my build, this will be my first hard body, and suggestions for painting? |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build How are you going to mount it . Please show pictures. Thanks |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build I dont know yet, I'm going to have to see how everything lines up. But i will snap some pics of how I mount it. "thumbsup" |

Re: Southern SXC10 Build Yeah I was looking at that, I found some paint for outdoor furniture that is textured. They had it in black and I think if I sprayed the body black with that textured paint it would look like the body was rhino lined, which I am a fan of. Body should be here Friday, I cant wait. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build +2 on the Fusion paint. Love those axles! |

Re: Southern SXC10 Build 3 Attachment(s) Took advantage of my day off to get some new goodies installed. Making steady progress on my build. I'm addicted to scalers! Got my VP High Steer Knuckles installed. Also got all of the Ti Linkage from VP as well. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build 1 Attachment(s) New Shoes!! Thanks to LockedUpRc and Proline. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build 3 Attachment(s) Body Finally arrived too, man, its cooler than I thought. This will be my first hard body, so I'm going to take it slow. Picked up some primer and some color coat. Going with a rootbeer color with some very slight metal flake in it. I think its going to look sick. Also got the super cool pack of sand paper at hobby lobby. It is a Professional Modeler Pack, it has 320, 400, 600, 1000, 2000, 4000, 6000, and 12000 grit. I didn't know it went that fine. I have a lot of body prep ahead of me. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build 6 Attachment(s) After much head scratching on how to mount to body, I had an idea. I took some of the stock body mounts and cut the nipple off the end. Attachment 223107 Attachment 223108 Then I snatched up some industrial magnets form work and attached them to the posts. Attachment 223109 Attachment 223110 Got everything installed, I think its going to work, these 4 (two on the posts, two on the inside of the body) will easily support the weight of the truck, it take about 10 lbs. to separate one set. Also took advantage of the break in the rain to get my primer coat laid down. Getting close. Attachment 223111 Attachment 223112 |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build love the build! That sandpaper... sheesh what are modelers sanding @ hobby lobby? primer stops at 600 -1000 grit (the finer for the metal flake- deep scratches from coarse sandpaper will mess with the flake) all the rest are for color sanding and for doing things like refinishing headlights and clear plastic. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build Thanks guys, The hard body is a huge pain in the ass, got 3 coats of primer on it and all wet sanded. Now that I look at it I may not even color coat it. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build 3 Attachment(s) Got some more work done. My VP OMF bead locks came in, got those paired up with some LockedUp Rings and TSL Swampers. I scratched the root beer idea for the paint and went with a satin black. Color coat is down, just need to dull coat it. I'm staying away from clear coat, I wanna keep it flat. Starting to look damn good. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build What do you guys use to mock up a cage? I need something easy to bend so I can get a good idea of what I want for the rear. |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build you can use brass rod. it bends easy and is pretty cheep |
Re: Southern SXC10 Build Thanks man, and here very shortly it will be cut in half...really...the chassis is getting chopped at the cab. So sad. |
