Default Antisimplistic's SCX-10 build - MiniMe...

Hello, all. This rig marks my third relapse into the addiction that is R/C.

My first was a Carl Goldberg Models Eaglet 50 plane with 20 sized motor and futaba gold box 4 channel tx. That was almost 30 years ago, when there was no such thing as RTR.

Then came the Team Associated gold body RC-10s in the early 90s.

Then a landslide of touring car stuff in the early 2000s - 1/8th, 1/10th, 1/12th and even 1/5th. All brands from Associated and Losi to Picco and FG. Good times! I still have most of it if anyone knows of a good home...

Recently lured into the world of 1:1 offroading, my "friends" reintroduced me to the modern rc wonders of 2.4ghz, brushless motors, LiPo batteries and amazing scale builds. Technology FTW! I held off for a while but then Axial announced the amazing Wrangler... Game over!

Here's my 1:1 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport and her little brother by Axial. I shall call him... MiniMe!

After bashing it around for a few weeks in stock form, it's time to get serious. This thread will serve to document my descent into madness.

Based on helpful but expensive guidance from many on this board, and the pure porn that is vanquishproducts.com, I have the following bits on order:

Thunder Power 5300 2s 65C LiPo
CC Castle Link USB Programmer
Hitec HS-7955TG servo
One shit-ton of Vanquish bling:
5 x OMF 1.9 Wheels - Grey / Gunmetal and Black with 600 Hubs
Black Currie Rockjock axles with lockers front and rear
VVD axle shafts, front
Shock Hoops front and rear, black
8 degree Knuckles and Chubs
Titanium links and steering

I'll be picking up a few items today at the LHS (Central Florida Hobbies), including aluminum servo horn, 35T motor and a few other goodies.

I expect to start serious wrenching today and will share more along the way!

Like the grill on the 1:1. How do you like the high steer knuckles? Been thinking of picking some up. Looking foward to see the progress on this build.

Update... pictures > 1000 words and all...

Got the motherlode from Vanquish - great customer service! Bolted up the OMF 1.9 beadlocks. I thought my eyes were going to fall out of my head. Many tiny screws. Amazing quality though, not a single thread boogered, all perfectly cut.

Got to bake my stock tires off today.

It might actually be cheaper to Mod the 1:1 to mimic the scaler. *Half doors on order

To loosen the glue holding the tires on the stock wheels. So they can be reused.

After a week of travel, I was able to get some time wrenching today. Front and rear axles are done, new shocks built and installed. All went well except that I had to mill down some material on the rear truss for the link bolts to fit.

The Jevne Racing Ultra Plate is pretty cool, but extends too far forward to fit the Dinky R/C light buckets, so I'll have to trim it back some. The gmade piggyback shocks were tedious to build but look and work pretty trick.

If the traxxas set pins arrive tomorrow I'll be able to install the mip driveshafts. After that, just electronics and a test run!

Thanks. At this point I'm wondering why I didn't just by a SCX10 chassis and body kit. And why VP doesn't just sell a full kit. Probably because it would be $1000.
