Default Axial Rubicon mod day...

A long day for me today, but finally done... for now anyway...

Flipped the trans and motor, easy flip not mirror... put my battery to the front and all electrics in a sealed box out back. had to extend the servo wires, and eliminate the power switch, but my rig should be submersible now. Servo and axels proofed too. even added a new driver and booted the half naked wrestler.

This is the Sam Fisher action figure from Splinter Cell.its got fantastic detail and yet looks like a regular Joe instead of a bodybuilder. still trying to decide if I want to use all my scale accessories from my wraith, or just buy new ones....maybe load up the JK and buy new ones for the Wraith?

By the way most of the mods I did are covered in other threads, but I took a bunc of pics along the way and can do a write up if anyone wants.

Why did you do a flip opposed to a mirror?

I like Fishers body armor!

Just flipped it because I was more concerned with getting the motor on the other side. Mirroring only moves it forward about a half a motor legnth, which might make a difference if you keep the battery in the back, but with it up front, I think the difference in lateral CG is more significant than the change to the longitudinal CG would be.

As for Fisher, I put the tach vest on to hide his cut torso. the black vest visually blends better with the color of the shallow seat. I had it with just the green shirt, but the cut off was much more obvious.

Sweet Rig! I actually didn't know if anyone had used the New Bright hard top yet, Im glad to see I wasn't the only one willing to sacrafice one of those great hard bodies!

I love how those 2.2's look on your rig! I tried fitting my stock Wraith tires just to see, but it didnt look as good. How tall is the overall height of the tires you are using? Wraiths are 5.5" theyre too tall and look silly. I actually did a quick write-up of my process, if you're interested...Hardtop for the 2012 JK Unlimited (WARNING: butchery of the New Bright hardbody!!!)

What box did you use to seal the electronics?

Got them at lowes and had them sitting in the garage. Its sized perfectly and still fits under the body. I had to ziptie the box to the frame though so it wouldnt move too much. I tried velcro and double sided tape too, but it sat too high to get the body on right. other than that it seems just right when ziptied down. ESC and reciever fit in great. Heres a close-up.

The box is just slightly tapered, and flexible, so you can push the ESC down inside until its snug, and it wont move. I used double sided tape on the reciever. and plastidip to seal everything in. The size of the box is good to give the ESC room to breathe, so it shouldnt overheat. I also tucked two Silica gel packs in behind the ESC, to keep condensation in check.

If you use this box, just make sure to check the length of the battery lines before you seal the box. I didn't check mine, and thankfully they reached, but barely.

Yeah that electronics box is bad ass. Love how it fits between the shock mounts. Real nice job.... Oh yeah to the OP Ill measure the 2.2 wheels and tires for you. They are GearHead 2.2 Trail King Beadlocks with ProLine TSL Swampers and stock ProLine foams.

I just noticed you put some clear side windows in the hardtop. I love how they look with the decals on them too. How do you get at the rear body pins with it like that?

Looking great Tom

Dangit man....I've thrown too many of those boxes away to count. It's cool how you find things to use when you have a mod on the brain, often what you need is something that's been right in front of you the whole time. Way to think inside box.

I did my wraith with the liquid electrical tape method, but this is easier on this particular truck. I couldn't believe how much room was under that body. That being said, I think axial could have definately given it a deeper interior, but all things considered, you can still make a reasonably good scaler with this body. You just have to cut all your passengers in half lol!.... At his point though I'm regretting sealing everything up before adding my lights. That's my next project, luckily the plastidip is easy enough to cut off and re-apply...

My roof is removable so I swing out the rear spare....

I just notched the body where the small pin/clips would fit from the NB roof. This way I can run roof on or convertible fairly easy.

Axial Satin Chrome 8 Holes, Pitbull Rock Beasts, 3 Racing Winch, and some Sweet 90mm King shocks. I also orderd a Clear body so I can start My "crush Recovery" tribute build... Im basically just going to keep alot of this jeep the same as it is partswise, because the Crush Recovery Jeep has liscensed parts like bumpers and stuff that just arent available in scale. So my build will be more of a look-alike than a replica build...

I'm Really not sure I like the satin Chrome wheels though... They go great with the silver, but I just love black wheels. I know these come in black, and I wish I had gotten those instead... Time to break out the paint... :P

Looks great, paint the wheels is easy and Axial sells some sweet anodized lock rings in colors.
