Default The School Run

so here it is. I was not going to bore people with another stock silver honcho.
but now things are starting to happen.I love this thing bone stock, great little truck. My brother snatched up all the bodies I was thinking I wanted, so I had to get creative. I went to a local gtg\comp, no comp that day but met a good group of guys, very friendly and helpfull. When I got home my brother and I were chatting on the phone and he decided to order me a rastar LR3, 60$ on the bay of E. This made me happy,as I have not seen too many LR3 builds.

so lets get started
here it is stock honcho telling the rastar just what it thinks

it is a cool body hood, front doors, and tailgate open,as well as a realistic full interior
I charged the lr3 up and tried to drive it around the house, but it literally got stuck on the threshold going into the kitchen

time to destroy/make better!

wow the "new" camera takes shitty pix, sorry. Gonna have to switch back to old faithfull, all the current pics are on this one so bear with me

damn, photobucket is really pissing me off right now

so I got it to this point the first night, body sitting on the mounts, honcho links switched out for dingo, and as you can see the rear needs to be just a tad longer

here it is posing on the E10

So, yesterday I got a package from RPP a day early even!

shameless plug

hood up as work is being done
8 hole axial beadlocks, I had too they were so cheap.
New compound Iroc's cuz they are so sexy
well I fumbled with tiny hex screws all night, and all I got done was tires mounted, then wheels on the mall crawler.
Quite a bit bigger than the stock Ripsaws

mounted up

this is where it is right now.
I picked up stuff to make my own custom rear links today, some threaded rod, revo links, and some aluminum tube. I hope the aluminum will be strong enough, I got it rather than stainless brake line cause they had it at hobbytown and I did not have to make another stop. Yes I'm lazy
and drinking beer

so, things I will be working on tonight and tomorrow.

rear links, only got enough ends to do the rear,I think
trim the body
mount up the spare
mount the front bumper back up
and reinstall the nerf bars

later on
cut up and install the interior,
roof rack?

we shall see.
hope to have some action pics this weekend
my beer is empty, see ya later

damn 2.slow... that is cool!

You're going to rack up the scale points with that body.
It's really nice and uncommon.

Thanks guys.

Tha flamingo print is an original signed print from a great event we went to while living in Wilmington it never gets old

Got the rear links worked out tonite. It's looking good.
Ill try not to trim too much off the body tomorrow
I want it to look as stock as possible too. But with the iroc's, it will be trimmed quite a bit

Don't have to work tomorrow so. Body trim and front links will be sorted after I get a window replaced in my jetta

Thanks asshole

More pix too

o

Are you thinking Class 2 or Class 1?

If Class 1, more of a stock look, I'd go with 1.55's maybe and smaller tires for sure.

If Class 2, keep the IROK's (or maybe Pitbulls), trim the fenders, add some sliders and tube fenders, stinger with winch, little bit of exo cage and a light rack... that thing would look tough!

I think you better build 2.

I need some schooling on the the class regs

I'm keeping the iroc's, I will be reinstalling the trimmed honcho sliders and front bumper.
Going to start trimming the body today after I make the front links, and I'm going to somehow use the spare carrier from the honcho on the back

later on, roof rack and cut up the interior to fit
so I guess thats class 2?

Yeah go with class 2. I have a class 1, hoopty has a class 1...I like that class a lot but we hardly ever run comps with it. That and everyone got tired of me kicking their a$$es so they gave up!

Ha! Mine is underway

I agree though, we run C2 & C3 almost every time out.

Put in some work today.
from noonish til about 7

drank coffee til it was time to switch to beer

links all made up, used up all the revo ends I had, and the front is still 3 link

got it all mounted up and tried not to use the honcho bumper so I mounted the lights to the bottom of the bumper mount, thinking they would be out of the way

crawled around the house, and had a little shoot with my other euro's

and realized that those lights were way too low, and if they are too low for house crawling, they would suck on the trail
got the dremel back out,and got another beer
cut on the bumper, cut on the body a bit, and in the end I think it came out ok

going to get some action shots tomorrow when I go to the gtg, I know those tires are going to rub
I dont really want to trim too much more off though, or set the body any higher.
I'm gonna clean up the ripsaws and keep them around.

still need to mount the spare, and work on the interior, but not tonight.

Looks like a land rover monster truck. I'm not digging those tires, but if your going for the monster truck look, you nailed it. Time to crush some cars.

I do love the rastar body though, so the potential is there.

funny you should say that,I have some old rc car bodies I keep around and indoor crawl on.

had a really good first time out with this body, and these tires rule!

yea they are huge, but it did not hinder it on the trail at all

chicago river creeping

this is really steep

this is a fun little trail

and a couple of local RCC guys
