i find that it does.. cutting foams is a personal preferance in my opinion... if you have a stiff set of foams that take them out of the wheel and round off the corners it will soften up the tire alot..if you need pics go browse the tire and wheel section there's lots of good info |

Tire foam technology has changed a lot in the last 4 years or so. The older foam was single stage and open cell. Memory foam and dual stage foams don't respond very well to being cut. Bottom line: Make sure you know the type of foam you have before cutting. Check out the foam options at Crawler Innovations. I found changing to dual stage foams and venting the tires did more than star cutting my stock foams. Crawler Tires, Crawler Foams, Parts and Accessories by Crawler Innovations |

Oh it helps, but usually too much. I star cut a pair of stock foams with 20 points just to try it out and they are far too soft for anything but an empty rear end. I suppose ultimately it depends on which foams/tires we are talking about, and how heavy your rig is.

That being said, you couldn't pay me to round the corners either unless the tires and or foams were incredibly stiff. That is the most acute angle of a tire's structure and needs the most support to not catch and fold up on everything. | |
