Thanks

A more scale look.

I think that you get better articulation with it on axle. It does give up the scale look as you both said.

axle gives you better performance
Chassis give you bump steering sometimes when the suspension travels it effects the steering, usually only noticeable at higher speeds.

chassis gives you more scale look taking it out of view
keeps it up higher to keep it out of moisture

When set up correctly there is no difference in performance.

On the axle gives better performance, look at the 1:1 world with full hydro steering and the cyls are mounted on the axle cms looks more scale for the average full bodied scale truck. If properly set up cam's was just as efficient as on axle steering it would be Jed on 2.2 comp rigs and supers

I run my traxxas servo on the axle. Never had an issue stripping gears. However, it's better to use the plastic turning links because its gives a little under tension

And what exactly is the purpose of the panhard bar? i see alot of CMS setups using it and wonder why.

To provide lateral location of the axle under the chassis.

I disagree, the difference would be the lower center of gravity with the servo on the axle.

Higher weight make it slightly more top heavy. although with a proper set up the function is identical. Benefits of body mount is more to do with scale appearance.

Maybe i should've been more clear, when set up correctly there would be no difference in the steering system. Hadn't touched on the cog aspect.

For most of the crawling I've done, the cms doesn't seem to limit me from anything other then body placement.
On my tj build I has to move the body around to cover the servo.

With the jeep, keep the body low to hide the servo.

I don't like the chassis mount stlye because the whole front end does offset when you cycle the suspension

That's very minimal as most of the weight (electronics, battery, motor and trans) is located on the chassis anyway. Yes, it may help a lil but not very noticeable compared to a CMS setup

Chassis mount for me. Offset during cycling should be minimal if you have it set up properly.

Axle mount is definitely more straight forward and don't have to worry about links hitting anything, but you do have to make sure theres room for the servo to cycle with the axle. I typically like my battery up front so this method prevents me from doing that.
