Hand built Dingo

I have had this Dingo sitting around with my other RC's as a stocker for someone to beat on since summer and even though I had done a few things to it to make it cooler it was still just a dingo like everybody elses




So it was time for Drastic change

The rules to my build of the dingo will be that the only thing I will buy is that which I cannot make(ie tires, electronics) so this was really fun brazeing up the 1/4 tube was cool I learned allot for next time I will get a more precise bender and have better drawings.

narrowed the front and shoe gooed it.

I got a little carried away with the torch and melted my other skid so I made this one.



Fabbed up the spacers for the rear


I sanded the tube and primed then thought I would try the Duplicolor Chrome, Well it stays shiney until you touch it then it turns silver. but anyway on to the pics.






Lots of space in here to build out room for electronics

Thats it for a couple of days anyway the plan going forward will be making a battery box out of Aluminum sheet and bolt it in here.


I also need to make an electronics plate up front, after that is done I will work on the LED situation and clean up the light bar with a mount and then the rest of the LED's to total 18-19 this time thanks for looking

Thanks but the sandable primer and some quality dremel really made up for my sloppy brazeing

since I was so dissapointed in the paint I think a repaint is in order when I am done but last night I got time to work on mounting the light bar.


still have to shape the brow and tighten the mounts that hold it to the frame but the Aluminum sheet seemed to work out.







The more things I build on this the more inspired I am so this may take awhile

I intended to build this a bit quicker but got sidetracked by a new toy all I can say is wow.




Anyway back to the build I blew it apart again, stripped the silver/chrome, sanded, and modefied the sliders a bit to make them more sleek.

Getting the rock lights and electronics box back together. had to make another bracket to hold the tray.


I am not sure that red was the right choice but oh well





I still have to power it, come up with some rear rock light and finish the roof but this is progress

Got all the parts built for the light bar wanted to make it look clean and any input is appreciated. as for power the plans are for a 35 T on 3s, sidewinders w/ castle BEC. At a little under 6 lbs I think it will be fine but this is my first venture into heavy rigs








I know that the articulation isn't exactly scale and I do intend on putting a winch and some more light on the bumper but those big meats clear even at full tilt and that is what I was going for.

Looks good. Did you use a regular tubing bender for rake line that you can get at a parts store? Or something different

Great looking cage and fab work. I'd love to still be able to do work like this.Great job. And I think the red looks better than the silver did....How's the COG? It looks kind of top heavy. Is it giving you any trouble? If so shorter shocks and wheel weights are the easiest fixes.But you probably already know that.....lol
