Default Axial Aluminum Hex Hubs doesn't sit flush?

Okay so I got some HPI aluminum hubs which are the same specs and dimensions as the axial aluminum hex hub #30429 and it doesn't sit all the way into the wheel hex? Is this normal? Im just wondering what you guys did on yours. If this is normal then I guess I won't mind it. Thanks!

is the hex just twice as long as the wheel is deep or is it not going in all the way?

Are those the type that have a pin all the way through them? Make sure the pin is screwed in far enough and that it isn't sticking out the opposite side. If not, test fit them off of the truck and see if you can get one to seat all the way in.

Are you sure they aren't just wider than the Axial hubs?

They are the same exact specs. I measured it with the plastic spares that come with the RTR which is the same as the axial aluminum hexs. Same width and everything. It's just that the hex isn't going in all the way because of the hex itself. So I was wondering if I have to grind that off or what?

Here's a picture of what the hex look like. See that cylinder thing sticking out? It's what keeps it from going in all the way.

The SCX10 uses the hex hubs with the flat face they are part number AX30427. They are the ones with the flat face.

Here is a picture on one

The one in your picture is like the ones for the Wraith axles.

Those look like ax 10 hubs. They are different than scx10 hubs.

AK, you could either grind yours down or buy the scx10s. you possibly will loose a fration or two strenght on the shaft but it is still about a millimeter or two wider than the scx10 one if you need the extra space.

Those are for 2.2 rims. You could drill out the wheel, grind the hex flat or buy 2.2s At least all my 2.2s have the big hole

Ah I see. I wanted to try them out since a couple people suggested them to me. I wanted a bit wider stance (but not too wide) but I guess I'll have to figure something else out.

Anyone selling their J Fab Designs 8mm wide hexes? :P

Mrc pro hexes are flat faced and about double the width, but they are plastic.

I had the same thing happen when i switched over to 2.2 wheels, took my dremel an made the hole bigger in my rims, perfect now! an gained alittle wider stance. that extra on the alum, hexes is for centering the wheel when you bolt it on.

I have some wide Pro Line aluminum clamping hubs coming today. I can let you know how they fit this eve. They are originally for the front of a 2wd Traxxas Slash (and various other Traxxas'). They were $10 a set(2) from RPP...Pro Line's blue anodizing must add 10 horsepower .

This is correct for SCX...the others are for AX (2.2 wheels in general) as others said.

Yeah to be honest I was hesitAnt at buying the hubs at first because of the protrusion on it...but since I've read people suggesting it to others online I figured they were worth the try at least. Thanks guys! I'm just gonna go back to stock until I see one of those J fab hubs in stock.
