Got some free time so I decided to change a few things. First was to get rid of the upper plastic links front and rear and replace with aluminum ones. Why axial didnt include these with the kit is something I dont really understand but I had the parts to swap over so I went for it. New rear links installed, The tubing was kind of beat up so I covered them with heat shrink. ![]() All buttoned up: ![]() ![]() Stock setup: ![]() New links installed: ![]() |

Next order of business was the steering. There just wasnt enough in stock form for my liking. Not much there at all. ![]() Ditched the stock plastic c's and knuckles for some Almn c's I had ( not sure where they came from ) and some vanquish high steer knuckles. I had installed the axial cvd's when I built the kit. Vanquish Knuckles Sooo much better now.... ![]() I also replaced the rear lockouts with Vanquish ones. Vanquish Rear Lockouts ![]() |

Now that the suspension and steering was out of the way, I decided to mount up the kit tires on some Darksoul Beadlocks I had. Out of the box, the front end is super light. On steep climbs it would park itself on the rear bumper. No bueno..... The nice thing about the darksoul wheels, you can tune them by adding steel pins inside the wheel. When I got the rims, Darksoul was out of the weights so I ran them for almost 2 years with nothing inside. Badger had 2 extra bags so I snagged them. 1 bag is enough for 2 wheels. I ended up stuffing the wheels with all the pins I could fit. ![]() All mounted up....At first I was too sure about this tire. Now that ive driven on them for a few hours I love em.... ![]() The stock axial rim, tire and foam weighs in at 3.48 ounces...light weight. ![]() The darksouls, stuffed with all the pins that would fit weigh in at 7.57 oz. These things are mini boat anchors now...I know these are going to need new foams.......Can anyone recommend something better then stock??? You'll notice the rings been painted in the pic... more on that later.... ![]() ![]() |

Ive always wanted a white Jk for some reason. IMO they just look good. Hit the local hobby shop and picked up some white pactra paint. I dont know If I got a really old can or what, but the paint flaked off super easy. Not happy, even though I prepped it correctly. Before: ![]() And this is where I am as of now. Im liking this a whole lot better then the white. I did a fine mist of flat olive drab, followed by a coat of silver then another coat of OD. Added a little detail the the hubs too..... ![]() Now too finish up the roof and go from there. I did reinforce the body with some shoe goo and fiber tape. Made a huge difference in the rigidity of the lexan... |

I love the color! And you just sold me on the shocks. I have been thinking about getting them just wasn't sure how they performed.
