| Honcho help...please
I finally got my granddaughter an R/C. A used Honcho in really good condition. It worked fine stock. She wanted 2.2's on it so it will look like my Wraith. I put a Level3 lift kit on it and an Axial TR 12.3 link set and went to 4 link in the front. Now the problem, the front drive shaft is binding. Is this setup possible? What am I doing wrong? I am new the the SCX10 setup. Any suggestion or solutions will make us both very happy!!!! Thanks... P.S she wants her own page on here so she can post pictures of her purple with pink flames Honcho, she is so proud of it.... |

Pinion angle is the angle of the pinion shaft coming out of the differential. This angle is set by the relationship of upper and lower link lengths. The wheelbase of your truck is set by the length of the lower links, and the upper link length determines the pinion angle for a given wheelbase. Longer upper links will clock (rotate) the pinion shaft upwards while shorter links do the opposite. Ideally you want your pinion angle to be equal to the angle of the drive shaft to ensure smooth operation. If the drive shaft joints are binding it means your upper links are too long or short for the given wheelbase(lower link length). You mentioned installing a lift, which would increase the angle, requireing slightly longer upper links to compensate. If you want, post a picture of your front drive shaft where it's connected to the front differential so we can be exactly sure what you need to do from here. Yup, I would space the upper links (couple mm or so) and maybe lower the suspension a notch.

Set the truck on a flat surface. And look at it from the side. The driveshaft angle should be straight preferred. But most have 2 slight angles pointing at the transmission. It should look like a real car or trucks driveshaft angle (not a great big lifted truck, not a good example). Crawl under a rwd or stock 4x4 as an example. ....... Hope this helps. With your plastic driveshafts its more important.
