Default my new Axial JK Unlimited

No pics yet as UPS will be delivering it tomorrow. I had one of the SCX10 kits when they first came out and really liked it just never wheeled it. Then I got a new 1:1 truck and decided to sell all my RC's and pursue a new hobby of John Deere garden tractors' but I live in the city with a small lot that doesn't really justify them and we haven't got that much snow so I haven't used them to plow the neighborhood so I figured it was time to get back into rc's but on a smaller scale. Plus with free shipping and a $45 off code at Tower it was a no-brainer. No real plans for mods just add some scale stuff to it like a winch and other scale goodies.

Here's a few pics of the scx I built....

The one I built for a buddy

The body was/painted by Norm and had airbrushed rust. Was pretty cool. It didn't get wheeled much either.
Can't remember his name on here but I'm sure you know who I am talking about.

Well I got it and quickly got to adding some goodies to it. Just some Pro-line scale accessories and a 3racing winch. I also added a Tamiya light to the bumpers and headlights. Looks like I am going to have to buy some new batteries and a new charger so I haven't ran it much. I hope to remedy that on payday. So far I like it and definately need to get another body and paint a different color so it doesn't look like everyone else's. Here are a few pics....

And have to show a little love...

Overall I am very impressed with this and can't wait to take it somewhere to crawl with it. I do think a color change is in the near future. I saw orangeish copper colored JK in our parking lot at work I really liked. Either that or a bright orange.

Glad to be back just was getting bored and too cold to work on my tractors in the garage, so my wife set up my shop in the unfinished part of our basement. Still trying to get things sorted out down there...

Sold some excess stuff that was just sitting on the shelves in the dungeon. Ordered up a new body from RPP Hobby. Now to decide on a color. I'm leaving toward copper as I already have a can of it and will pick up another can at the LHS Friday. Any one else care to chime in on color selection?

Thanks guys. I love how it turned out. Now it doesn't look like 90% of the JK's out there.

Well did some work to the Jeep while I was on a long 6 day weekend. I added the headlight buckets and a pair of LED's. I also traded my stock JK body to my buddy J for his new kit hardtop. I mounted the doors separately and like the look. I also pieced together a lightbar by combining a Pro-Line light set and a New Bright TJ light bar. It's not lit up yet but I'm working on it.

Here are some pics!

Opinions and criticisms welcomed....

How did you mount the headlight buckets? I have a JK and want to add headlights but have not been sure how. I love the look with the hardtop. Also how is the winch mounted and wired. Sorry for all the questions just kind of new to this style of RC.

The headlight buckets are mounted with hot glue and came with the new body I bought. Basically paint them, cut them out and stick them to the back of the grille. The LED's are Tamiya. Winch is just bolted to the front bumper wiht 2 screws. It's not wired yet. I have a Traxxas TQ3 set up for it but havent switched it over because it's not 2.4ghz. That might come later if I find a deal on a new Traxxas radio. Right now it's just for looks!
