Default spur gear keeps going out

Anyone else having an issue with the spur gear going out on this truck? Ive had the Honcho for about a week and a half and am having to replace it again. The first time i thought it was due to the notorious worm screw coming out of the pinion. Well i replaced the spur gear and added to locktite to the worm screw on the pinion, and now im having the same problem!; What is going on?! Also, has anyone had any better luck with the metal spur?

Only thing i can think of is that the gears may be to tightly meshed together. make sure the pinion and spur are not tight together...there should be a tiny bit of play between the two.I still run the stock plastic spur in my rigs and have not had any issues so far.

I'll second that. The spur usually does not spin completely true so properly set your gear mesh and be sure to check it at several points of rotation. Keep tabs on the gear mesh as well - check it before every outing. Also, grab the spur, wiggle, push and pull on it and if it has an abnormal amount of slop you could maybe take apart and reassemble the gear box making sure everything is correct and that the screws are nice and snug.

sounds like your not setting it properly. I have been running the same spur for over a year.
