Default scx drivetrain issue

Im new to rc world, do mostly full scale crawling but found a scx 10 on ebay and bought it. After a few uses i noticed when the tires get bound up only the front will spin and there appears no power out the rear drive shaft. So before i tear apart the trans i searched but couldnt find anything. Need expert advice. Other symptoms that started were it stops if it gets a little bound up on the rocks and its been getting hot. It has poor connection from battery so im gonna buy a different connectors in hopes thatll fix power/ heat issue.
Box he sent it in is the newer generation scx10 guessing its all stock

on the first scx 10 i had the same problem.. its was the 1.5mm set screw in the drive shaft came loose. buy some 3x5mm screws. put that in the drive shafts. problem solved..

Screws are tight, must be internal, i can only get it to slip going forward, can hear a clicking inside when it slips so w/o tearing it apart im assuming gears for rear output. Any recommendations for replacement parts?

I lost power to rear wheels when the screws that hold the outputs to the diff backed out. Took the tranny apart, put some lock tight on the screw as all is well

When there's no power to the rear, does the driveshaft spin? if it does spin, its most likely either your locker, or pinion. If it doesn't spin, it's your trans. robinson racing gears are the way to go for your trans.

You should find the culprit when you open the trans then. Good thing it's fun to work on these lil SOBs.

The 3 bolts holding the output gear came undone. Locked tight them and assembled and its working great
