| Axial Jeep Rubicon jk body tip thread.
Hey guys I know some of us have figured out some of the weaknesses of this body. Which would be the windshield, side mirrors, and cage (not completely sure about this). The windshield bolts are either too tight or not enough surface area so it ends up being torn off after a couple of runs. With the wide mirrors they easily get hung up and ripped off. And with cage I remember somebody's cage punctured through the body. Hopefully we can get some good tips going or help each other out. I'll start with mine. For the windshield I decided to first take out the bolts and cut thin strips of velcro onto the cage and the sides of the windshield. 1. 2. 3. Final Result. I haven't tested it yet but I'm pretty sure it will hold on together, worse case it gets torn off and you have to remount it. I do this also to my 2wd buggy body and I haven't ever had it torn off for the track. Hopefully this simple solution helps some of you guys out! I'm still trying to figure out what to do about the side mirrors. Last edited by shishcabobers; 03-03-2013 at 02:17 PM. |

good tips, maybe for the cage puncturing thru the body you could use shoe gue and drywal tape to reinforce the body at the poitn of contact

If you use the Vp Rigid light bar mount it will hold the windshield in better, cause it uses two screws per side and the mount acts as a clamp. Rob |

On my first scaler comp pre run with the JK, I ripped my windshield off. then i decided to be safe and take the mirrors off, a good idea. I also like the velcro on the windshield, but im running mine without it. Id also like to see how you are reinforcing the cage.
