Default Front Link setup

Hey I just got a Honcho. Old to RC, new to trail rigs. I was looking at the link setup tonight and I'm confused. The rear has a "4link" setup. Why is the front using the Y link, "3 link" I think it's called? It comes with another 4link truss in the parts bag, but it doesn't have the post for the servo pad on it like the 3link truss does. As well there is 2 links in the part bag. I'm sure the 4link truss could be easily modified to have a post to support the servo pad. Do people do this? Why does it come with Y link in front? More scale look? If it gives better movement in the rear, wouldn't it do the same in the front? I've been doing lots of research on the SCX10 on forums and never heard once anyone mention the 3link in the front and swapping it for the 4link. So I'm assuming people don't and wonder why.

Who knows. The Y-link basically is a 4 link with a shared connection point at the axle. Both the 4-link and Y-link provide the same exact function of clocking and locking the axle side to side in conjunction with the bottom links. My main reason for swapping was because I don't like the slop of the Y-link connection. My servo plate has been fine without the 3rd screw.

I tried the 4 link front with the stock parts and just mounting the plate with 2 screws. It worked fine I until I went to a hitec 7950 servo and 2.2s. It flexed a lot and the screws pulled out. I bought a 4 link servo plate for $20 and haven't had a problem since.
