So I have the axial ones and now with my mmp and tekin roc combo I keep breaking the pins that keep them assembled and I'm talking about the cvds in the front axle I've cut come new pins out of Allen wrenches but they break too any ideas

You could try drill bits till what ever you buy shows up.

Axial SCX-10 universal cvd , honcho, VVD Heavy Duty Axle Shafts ax30420 ax30366 ax30464

If you break these, I would be impressed.

Then ask what in the **** you did.

I have had some decent luck with the MIP ones. If you can find a set.

Get some music wire of the right diameter and you'll probably break the shaft itself before you mess up another pin.

I got 27ft of it for $3. Hard to beat that. I have 4 sets of the Axial cvd's so it's already payed for itself several times. "thumbsup"

Re: stronger cvds

I've ran all the options. On Axial music wire pins are pretty much a waste as the shaft will snap then. The shaft is only very slightly stronger than the stock pin.

MIP's are the worst, brittle POS, broke many in the first five feet.

XR mod. Strong as or stronger than stock dogbones. Adds width which can be a plus of minus. Major steering.

VP VVD'S. Strong enough for most. Good steering. Gotta admit the area of the cup around the pin makes me nervous, I've saw pics of broken cups, but mine have held so far (13.5 on 3s).

Super 300's. The bomb. Pure beef.

Anything less than VVD's is a waste of cash except the XR mod, personally think SCX axles don't need widened for most bodies. Those running TTC events with big brushless power and voltage need the 300's.

The vanquish vvds or the super 300s are the only ones to use if you don't mind wasting money. Spending it twice to try to make it an upgrade. The stock axial cvds are ok if you don't mind stocking all the parts to repair them when they break! I've broken the outer axle on the vanquish vvd axle w/ a castle creations speed control and a Novak 13.5 turn crawler motor. On my scx 10 axial scale truck w /proline tsls. A fella today broke a outer axle on his 2.2 scx 10. I personally think that they are stout enough for all but the most severe abuse! Hope this helps.

The xr mod can be done in such a way to not add width. A lil blacksmithing and some grinding to get the tangs tightly fitting into the lockers goes a long way.
