| Just Ordered my First Crawler
Just ordered the Axial Jeep scx10. Should be here between the 14th and the 18th. Cant wait to get it. As far as systems i was going to throw in a traxxas vxl. One because because its waterproof, two because I have it laying around. Also I was thinking of getting the Hitec HS-5646 Waterproof Metal Gear Digital Servo. Would that be good? I would turn the throttle epa down a lot on the remote to slow down the vxl.

Well. I don't really use my crawler in pools of water. I love savox servos very reliable. I grease mine a lot when I do maintenance however don't have to regrease for a long while.

The vxl isnt good for crawling, for a basher maybe but not crawling, i know has been in wraiths but its a 2 pole & if i remember correctly its sensorless so you are gonna have major cogging while trying to crawl plus theres no braking system so i suggest something better for brushless, if thats not an option hit up holmes hobbies & u will be way way happier, plus u wont have a pile of torn to crap parts Last edited by Dtempleton; 03-09-2013 at 10:19 PM. |

I run savoxs in my other rcs but I just figured I get a waterproof servo just in case. Maybe I should rethink the vxl. I saw vids with people using the in scx10 so I figured use mine cause its just sitting in the box on my desk, and I really didnt wanna buy something else because I need a new sc rig as well. Thought I could just bring the power down. I'm mostly gonna find trails to drive on in the park with my friend whos ordering his this week. Might not climb rocks really, and I was thinking of either makin a trailer for my other rcs or getting Dinkys Tandem Trailer. Especially if they make a bigger one like they said in their thread.

Yeah I dont feel like paying 100 for a servo. Lol. Another option I could do for now is swap the system out of a stock brushed slash. I'm ordering one for my daughter's birthday gift on Friday. She can handle a brushless rc cause she has driven my sc10b and my boys brushless pede. Would that be better for the Jeep? Really dont have the funds to buy a new power plant right now. May even use a traxxas 2075 servo for now too.

Many guys in our local group run the Vxl without issues or breakage in scx's. the drag break thing takes some getting used to, but if you have never crawled before, it doesn't seem to be that big of a deal, you just learn to manually break, something a few of the c out guys prefer. As for cogging, I didn't witness any of that either.

Sitting @ my desk trying to focus on work isnt working. lol. My boy texted me saying I better have my jeep built before he gets his. Yeah I have to order my daughter's slash Friday so it can get here before her birthday, wasn't gonna get her a crawler cause she just wants to drive fast and race my boys sons slash.

If you gear the VXL down to like a 12-14t pinion, you'd be surprised how well it will crawl. Geared like that you can run packs endlessly all day with a cool motor and esc.

Lol. I just painted a JK body myself...black and orange. I've had holloween boogers for 2 days. I wanted to do mine in Jeep's "rescue green" that they offered on the Wranglers a few years ago but couldn't find any lexan paint that matches it. Lookin' good, and you got it together just in time eh? |
