Default New to crawling, can't decide which battery setup

Hi there, ordered a rtr jeep scx10 off ebay a few days ago and before it gets here i want to get the battery and charger sorted, bein new to this i have been trolling through all the threads and cant make out which battery i should go, lipo, nimh etc etc(electronics have never been my strong point), i want a good run time etc, also a good charger which would plug into the wall as oppose to a car battery
Cheers

2s Lipo 4-5000mah should suit you well. As for a charger, go with something with atleast a 5A charge rate and be sure it has a balance adapter that matches whatever balance plug comes on the batteries you decide to get.

mah or Milliamp hour is the number milliamps that the battery will discharge over the period of one hour. milliamp = 1/1000 of an amp.

I picked up a 4000 mah 2s 7.4 volt soft pack lipo for my Dingo and it does well with the battery placement up front. I also ran a separate 1600 mah battery in the rear with a bec, and receiver to help get a good balance between front and rear. MAH stands for milliamp hours, and the more of these you have the longer the run time is. The charger....like others have said, get a charger that has the balance port on it to balance your cells. "Dont cheap out on the charger." Anyways, id run lipo power and voltage and run times are better. Just make sure you get a charging sack for your lipo!

Check out hobby partz.com sky lipo and gens ace are good choices and cheep. The charger they sell works great to. Don't be intimidated by lipo, it's performance is light years ahead of nickel metal!

Deans plugs. You may need to install a male side on your ESC when you receive the rig.

Generally most batteries will come with some sort of connector. However will it be set up for your rig may be questionable. My personal recommendation is to use the DEANS ultra plugs. Easy to solder up and can handle tons of current, due to its tight connection. Put the males on speedo and charger, and females on your battery packs. Awesome!
