Default Honcho acting up

Got a Honcho recently and I love it! Lately it has been surging and does not have the smooth throttle control it once had. Crawling over a rock and BOOM full speed out of nowhere! It has the stock esc, etc. What is causing this? I'll try to go in reversre and it surges forward at full throttle bucking back and forth! Another post suggested that the esc was on its way out. Any ideas?

What generation honcho is it? It's possible to have ESC go bad, but most likely would be the older version with AE-1 that axial stopped using, or could be an AE-2 and something happened to it - like getting wet. Id lean toward something happening since you said it was fine before. Too hard to say at this point.

Hey, thanks for the response, It has the ae-2 esc. I checked all of the connections and haven't been through any water. Tried linking, binding, etc. Nothing so far. I noticed when I pulled the trigger the esc had a green light and when I went for reverse the esc blinked red with no movement backwards. I don't know if that is normal but when I flip the switch on the transmitter it does the same thing, just in reverse.

Mine did this, replace the transmitter remote batteries. When they run low they seem to send erratic signals to the esc. I replaced mine and boom, problem solved.

Mine did this to me a while back. I did change radio and truck batteries, and tore truck apart. It also is an ae-2 and has seen some water. Has been "waterproofed"but hasn't been a submarine. Has the steering servo been changed? Mine was a different servo and was giving me the same erratic BOOM ! Warp factor 2, ensign. Engage! But I put a castle bec In . And now only glitch I have is slight delay from forward to reverse. Don't know if it helps .
