I had a chance to test out the Claws. The x2ss compound is good stuff (I know, I'm late to the party) They hooked up really well right from the get go and though the stock foams are pretty stiff, the tires both flexed and remained firm when needed and greatly surpassed my expectations. Afterall, that's a lot of sidewall to keep in check. Since the travel is limited so much there is a lot of 3-wheel motion, yet it's very stable and remains planted. Folks aren't kidding when they say you don't need a lot of travel. All in all I'm very happy with keeping the big ol tires and giving them a shot. I was able to keep the body and suspension relatively low and only have the slightest bit of rubbing in the front at full flex with the tires turned just the right amount. Only happened to snap a couple pictures. What you see there is basically full flex, which is only about 50% of the shocks available travel. Pretty scale looking actually. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I robbed the 4" shocks off the rear of my old RC10GT that has been sitting in the attic and tossed them on the front of the JK. The springs are really soft allowing it to sit relatively low, but offer a significant amount of increased down travel over the stockers without it being overly unscale. I'm running them with the stock scx10 bumpstops. You can see I still get a some minor rubbing. Speaking of the x2ss Claws, a little update if you will: They have been great tires so far and completely rip through any line I throw at them. The compound is awesome and REALLY soft. The outer lugs take a real beating on the rough granite-type rock and show significant wear after only a few hours of use. I'm VERY conservative with my throttle and only running a 55T on 2s at the moment until my BEC arrives, so for those running a hotter setup and who are more throttle-happy these tires might not last long, depending on the terrain of course. I don't have any real complaints about them, but I'll probably give the Iroks a shot next just to be fair. ![]() Without further adieu, some full frontal flex porn from today: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
