Famous112's SCX10 Dingo build!

This is my first crawler/scaler so bare with me on some steps.
This one was stepping out of my comfort zone By ONE Hell of a step..... But somehow is really keeping me interested..
First up, Whats involved in this build.
SCX10 Dingo Kit
Castle Creations Sidewinder V3 Combo with Nue 1406 4600kv Motor ( All the Sidewinder V3 ESCs were sold out online and i bought this combo for 109.99 Flat at my LHS)
Savox 0251 Servo ( 222.2 oz Torque , .2 Speed )
Spektrum Micro SR3100 Receiver

Lets start with a box...
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psad6675c4.jpg
Next is a bunch of Bags....
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...pse27f908e.jpg
EEEEEPPPPP Bags A-G
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps78ef6609.jpg

First few steps are where you put together the diffs, There are SOME SERIOUS Lockers in this diff..
There are 4 little tiny screws that hold them together. You will see i have one Completed diff and one diff that just un-assembled and ready.
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psbbd65e5d.jpg

Next up you just slide on 2 bearings, One on each side of the diff, Do this twice and you have two completed diffs.
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psde85346b.jpg

Front Diff Has the Dogbone Type things....
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psea80b44c.jpg

Rear diff has the Axles
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...pscb1c039d.jpg

Now my Camera Died here and now i only have my Phone pictures... and none of assembling the Axles... so i only have the Completed axles.

Front Complete Axle
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2ce3a23e.jpg

Rear Completed Axle.
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps09a75331.jpg

Both Completed Axles.
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psec39b728.jpg

Next up was to build the CV's or W8's... Wild bores As axial Calls it. Beefy.
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3a42c1e3.jpg

This next step had you attach the W8's and The Link that attaches to the chassis.
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psebb91acb.jpg

Shocks up next...
There are no pistions in this.. which really had me confused, But seems like it feels nice.
Unbuilt Shocks
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps18dd0af9.jpg
Built Shocks ( Note the Reservoirs , Very Scale looking )
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps08e63f52.jpg

Next up you have to build the very nice aluminium links and Put the shocks onto the actual axles...
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4d8bc82b.jpg

Next we add the servo.... with the BEAUTIFUL Links.
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps358fde9c.jpg

Onto The Transmission....

But first: The Main Part of this truck ;)
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...pse7da9649.jpg
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps016842dc.jpg

All Went together well... Tranny with an 87T Spur... and currently a 15 tooth pinion on said motor.
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3b4ad78f.jpg
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps653bfbdc.jpg
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psf4188cf9.jpg

Next... We start to assemble the said chassis plates
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...pse269d8ba.jpg
This is deff different for me.

Now we add the axles....
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps02a023fb.jpg
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1bb5e30a.jpg

Now we are getting somewhere....
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1bb5e30a.jpg
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps06e3b6e4.jpg
Note this is all still on my JUMBO COWRC Screwcatcher PIT MAT :)

Rear bumper Added...
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psdcdc82fe.jpg

Front Bumper Added.... No close Up picture...
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psa01f556c.jpg

ESC Added / As well as Battery Fitting... Will have to order a smaller battery for this thing...
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psb24442c4.jpg

Getting Closer...
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psef8c81ee.jpg
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0e13e82b.jpg

Now we have a Car!!!
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps16793d46.jpg
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...pse15b9290.jpg
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps32fb2cdc.jpg

Im thinking we have a Body/Roll cage....
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...psaf271009.jpg
And Of course...
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6cbe31a3.jpg

OH. NOTE TO SELF.... Get gearing correct the first time... It was geared WAY TO HIGH( even though the motor is way to much at that..) I had to gear way down from the STOCK 20 Tooth... Dropped to a 15 tooth....
But this is what it looked like when i took it apart just to change the gearing...
http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps743c8563.jpg
Good thing i had a be....Soda.... To drink while doing this. :nervous:

Look for updates as i get use to this alittle more...
Enjoy!
This 1.9 Scaler Will get its first run hopefully next week.

LISTS OF THINGS PLANNED:
Move battery tray over front axle
Work with articulation for more.
New shocks
Beadlock wheels
Actual crawler motor
New bumper...

Need help on what is needed to setup a 4 link suspension.
Thanks and more updates comming soon.

Re: Famous112's SCX10 Dingo build!

I'm not sure why anything needs to be taken apart? It's quick enough to pull the tranny (4 screws) but I've never had any trouble swapping pinions and readjusting gear mesh with everything together. You only need to very slightly loosen the motor screws and that can be done with a standard 90* bent allen wrench from the side if you can't get in through the rear with a hex driver.

Edit: I just remembered I flipped my tranny so it's opposite of normal, maybe that grants easier access to the motor screws.

You got one of these too! Last month I picked up a trail honcho. Waterproofing it now(electronics and bearing) for some water fun.

Yeah I did! Lol

Now my question is. What is neededto make this 4link?
I know it came with the plastic links to set it up as 4link.

Re: Famous112's SCX10 Dingo build!

In the rear mount up the 4-link truss on the axle and use the shorter plastic links that came with the kit. They attatch to the frame the same way the y-link does, and they attatch to the truss with a m3x30mm screw and lock nut. The part of the truss that indexes into the top of the axle tubes uses a m3x8mm screw on each side.

For the front you will need to make some shorter links, but otherwise it's the same.

Re: Famous112's SCX10 Dingo build!

Actually thats for a trail fix, you can just pull the trans cover off and loosen up the motor screws add new pinion and readjust your mesh... golden

Re: Famous112's SCX10 Dingo build!

Just take the y-link and the piece it attaches to out. Put the 4-link truss on the axle and attach the links.

Re: Famous112's SCX10 Dingo build!

You are just doing the rear right? Use the shorter for rear upper links.

Okay next update.
Time for a new motor.
I went out and tried to traik run... and this thing has way to much torque.

So.

I picked up an axial 55t just for the sake of it. And im gonna try it. Wheres a good place to start with gearing on this with the 87 spur.

Also. Motor is for sale. Two runs only. Pm me.
