Chopped the Jeep Rubicon Bumper... After removing the bump stops to get more articulation (Great tip!) I found the tyres were now hitting the front bumper quite severely when turning and compressing the shock. So I have dremmeled off the corners of the bumper. It now clears this easily and retains the bumpers looks IMO. :) http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps2db2642f.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps21961eed.jpg |
Re: Chopped the Jeep Rubicon Bumper... I like the nice subtle mod. Nipped yet stockish, looks good. How much body rub do you get without bumpstops? |
Re: Chopped the Jeep Rubicon Bumper... It was quite bad on the bumper. At full lock and climbing it was really pushing into the tread. It stills rubs on the wheel arches and flares a little but I can live with that. |
I need to do this after removing my bump stops.. Does your rubi hit the body too? Mine seems to hit just behind the front wheels pretty badly, especially under a little flex. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Re: Chopped the Jeep Rubicon Bumper... Nice! I did the same thing, except I didn't cut as much. I also stuck the bumper as far back as I could so I could have a better approach, and I ended up super glueing it because there weren't any holes. Yes it is a little ghetto but its holding up and I'm going to get a metal bumper eventually. |
Re: Chopped the Jeep Rubicon Bumper... @Rogue - It rubs on the tops of the arches a little. There is some lexan there below where the flares are mounted and it will hit the front of the body a touch sometimes under full lock. @ Shish - Yeah I shoved the bumper as far back as possible without breaking the wires for the lights in the bumper. That bumper still protrudes to far IMO. |
