Over drive front of my JK and underdrive rear

Need some specifics about how to overdrive the front of my new Jeep JK and underdrive the rear. Is it possible to only overdrive the front? I dont need more speed, just to pull through the crawl better and more turning radius. Is the combo 36/14 in the front? What to use in the rear, if any? RTR is on the way so I have lots of modding/upgrading to do in my near future.....cant wait! Thanks to all in advance.

43/13 in the rear, then you have under geard the rear

I was running over/under in my scaler and was having problems with over heating. Went back to the same ratio in both and the problem went away.
That was in a VERY heavy scaler though.
I would try the OD in the front first and then if that is not enough, the UD in the back. Just my $.02 worth though.

I run od/ud in a couple rigs, no negative effects here. Although they're geared pretty low.

I would start with UD in the rear. UD causes less stress in the drive line than OD if its still not enough then pop OD in the front.

When running the od/ud combination you need to run on surfaces that will allow the rear wheels to slip so they can keep up with the front wheels.
I have od/ud in my Wraith and can see the rear wheels hopping when running on hard dirt trails.

For the JK build that is work in progress I have just put the od in the front since this one will be doing a combination of trails and crawling. If you plan on mostly crawling I would ud the rear.

Here is a link to my build thread that has pictures of the HD OD and HD stock ration gear sets. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...ess-power.html

Here is a good thread on the optional gear ratios.

if your just gonna be crawling...you'll be fine with the od/ud mod. 36/14,43/13.

if your going for some speed..your front will be dragging the rear end along
thus causing motor/esc heat buildup.

Guys, thanks for the very helpful info. Aiming for trails and crawling so going to just go with OD in the front. Rolandrockshop...your pics and thread is awesome and very helpful as well.
