(SEE NEW INNER FENDERS BELOW THIS POST)

Made some Inner Fender wheel wells! Thanks to Bender for the inspiration with the CD Top!!!! They still need paint and some sanding of the edges, these are going to look awesome! now for the rear..

More to come!

Looks good! Nice to see that someone has taken my idea of a softtop How ist this one monted? Is it just held by the roof rack? How have you mounted the roof rack? Have you done it the way like me on my Rubi_con_Arni?
cheers

The Rack is just actually held on by some industrial Velcro that's not noticeable, especially when I have the spare tire up there, I also didn't feel comfortable with drilling through the rack it self, plus that way I can easily remove it if needed. The rack has not fallen off once through many roll overs! haha

The soft top is actually made by "scottanthony" it just mounts on the roll cage with some thin Velcro strips that came with it! it's 100% waterproof material and it protects my cage very nicely, not to mention looks B.A.!

And yes, your rig has inspired this build quite a lot!

Now just for a top with side covers and windows!? (hint hint)

Added a Tool Box... Thing.. Stores some tools that may be required for a repair on the trail.. It was an old "Tech Deck" Tool box,it opens on both sides. I think I'll paint it black to give it more of a scale appearance and maybe add a THULE decal to it somewhere, it doesn't effect performance much, but with a lot of stuff it makes it quite top heavy..

What do you guys think? size and usability? scale or meh? See first post for "action" shots

Default Re: New Inner Wheel wells!

So I completely did away with the CD Covers and went to Walmart to pickup some of these

They worked great, just had to cut off the part the lids snap onto, cut 2 of them in half and I was in business!

For the rear I just had to align them were I wanted with the body on and upside down (for ease of access remove the wheels and the top screw for the shocks and just let it hang) and just secure them to where the Shock screws in at the top, screwed it in and trimed any excess that was visible, did this for both sides. Now to remove and paint!

Here's the end result for the rears

The front was the same process, just had to trim them a bit more due to the way the jeep front end angles inwards. Again, remove and paint!

Finished top shot

Front End result

Rear end result

Nice, eh?

Looks great I am going to have to try the inner fender trick. I also mounted my rack over my soft top. I had the rack first and I just got my soft top and didn't want to lose the rack so it's mounted over the top. I put little tiny screws thru the top and right in to the cage works great!
