| Two speed??
Any opinions on whether the rc4wd 2 speed trannys are worth buying? I'm building a trail rig and thought it might be a good addition but I'm keen to hear some opinions first?

A two speed works great in a trail rig. Second gear for cruising along the flats and first gear for crawling. A couple guys in or club run them with big power and no problems yet... although I have heard of a couple that have failed. |

i have had a couple issues with mine, an e-clip was off when i first got it, making the shift not work, then the shift linkage is not very good so shifting sometimes does not work, but overall i think it's a good unit, i enjoy mine, and a friend has his in a beast rig with a 4700kv brushless system and it hauls... the 2 gears are a huge difference which is also very nice.

What drive shafts do you need to put this in or is it a direct bolt in.

I have got an 18t sensored brushless setup I was planning on running. I don't want ridiculous speed just a nice real low crawling speed and the ability to cruise along at walking pace with the motor not screaming. The tires and suspension I'm running are far to soft for any serious speed. That's what the savage is for. I just ordered it and a few other parts. I will strip it down when it arrives and grease it all up just make sure it's all together properly and all bolts loctited. I also ordered the exo cage to suit the hilux body. I know another hilux conversion but bah I'm a huge Toyota fan.

Oh and mark by my measurements you should be able to use stock ones but if not its not hard to trim 5mm off the end off each half of the drive shafts. Simon |

I used the stock length drive shafts in mine n it works fine. I also took mine apart n greased it before running it. I havent had any trouble shifting but It likes to be shifted will on a gentle roll. It doesnt shift under hard accel nor braking. I get going pretty good n first but not screaming let off the throttle a bit and hit second. Then just drive on. Mine is perfect for crawling in first gear and will get it in second. I run the lowest axial gears, 4600kv motor on 3s, and a 9 tooth pinion

Tooth pinion should set me up for good speed. As well as a nice low crawling speed. Sorry bout the split message I mucked up. Simon |
