Default newb build- shock/ride height issue

hey guys new to crawler side and been having a blast with kids and a couple of rtr scx10's.

time for dad to build his.

going to put the wrangler body on it.

in first stage, i updated to alum links- from axial

and 90mm rc4wd shocks. i bought the blue and silver ones with the ballistic caps- before rc4wd came out with the kings ones.

problem is, is that these 90mm shocks, feel like they are too short. almost as if i lost 10-15mm of ride height and travel.

biggest problem is with alum links in front, st link hitting chassis and no travel.

do i have to go to 100mm rc4wd shocks? do i just get the axial ones that come with wrangler kit or prolines powershock?

i love the look of the rc4wd ones, but cant afford to buy multiple sets to see what will work and wont.

too new at this.

Shock makers take their measurements at different locations on the shock. Some measure from the center of the mounting hole while others measure from tip to tip. That may explain why you feel you lost some height because you probably did.

As far as the links go, I'm using the Blue Monkey links which came with a new link mount that slightly raised them above the axle.

ok i can understand that,

now, besides the axial, does anyone know the closest size rc4wd kings to the stock axial?

i want to put those on for the looks over the axial or proline ones.

You could buy or make a lift kit to use the shocks you already have. This is from Level3: Axial SCX10 Honcho Dingo | Chassis Lift Kit | Scale RC Crawler truck parts. [SCX-06 HDLK] - $16.00

You can use Vanquish "razors" to raise the shock anchor on the axles by half an inch. It works really well and its much cheaper than buying new shocks.
