Default My Honcho RTR mods - now Hilux Truggy

Hey guys, I'm new in this hobby and I have this Trail Honcho for about a month and a half. It's a very capable crawler right out of the box so I'm very happy with it. I've made some mods such as putting the front body lights and a new set of wheels. the lights are cheap leds with 100 ohm resistor for the whites and 200 ohms for the orange ones, all connected to the CH3 of the receiver with some old computer connectors for leds that I had. I've used the fog lights buckets for the headlights and cause are the same diameter.

and today I've installed the new wheels and tires. 1.9 Wheel wagons 6 lugs and Rok Lox.

I have some videos from my runs:

hope you like them.

Greetings from La Serena, Chile.

thanks guys. Last night I did the bumper mod, and raise it 1.5 centimeters (a Little more than half an inch). now the honcho doesn't have the gap between bumper and body.

some pics from yesterday's run:

I'm thinking on venting the wheels but not really sure. the axial wheels are vented and the tires grip very well to the rocks.

what do you think?

Bumper looks much better raised, that's why I raised mine too...better approach angle too. I vent my wheels, the tires work so much better. If you run in water you could cover vent hole with Gorilla or Duct tape otherwise you'll be disassembling wheels to let foams dry.

from yesterday, LOL. just one run but they are great. they give more clearance for the axle pumpkin so it get stuck a lot less. Initially I thought that was going to lose stability but those steel wheels are a lot heavier than the axials so finally I got better stability.
Maybe tomorrow or saturday I will test them on rocks and I will post my impressions.

today I've added a flag to my honcho. I used that part that holds the antenna and the one that hold the body post. I've cut the last one to grab the tubes of the cage. It holds pretty well but somewhat loose so the flag post don't get damaged.

Today was the first rain in like...two years in here, so I went crawling with my buddy:

So I was thinking about plastidipin' my honcho. I chose a nice red and this is the result:

1st coat

2nd coat

I gave it 3 coats, and this is a preview. tomorrow I will finish this job. I have to put my proline scale accesories too.

cheers.

today I cutted the foams. Now tires are much softer, almost as soft as the original ripsaw's. Tomorrow I will test them.

some photos from the other day:

what is a post without a flex shot?

turn on the lights!

Great job on the lights, could you post up a pick or two of the inside of the body on how you mounted up the lights?

I just used a hot silicone glue. It flex a Little with the body and in case of a big hit, the lights get loose and don't suffer any damage and in 5 minutes you can reheat the glue and get all back together.
