| Adding A BEC
Just a quick question hopefully. If I'm looking to add a BEC to my otherwise stock SCX10, is adding it to my system the only thing I need to do, or will I need a different ESC as well? I'm afraid the stock ESC may have issues. Thanks! |

You don't need a new esc for a bec unless yout current one is already on its last leg!

I'm currently having some steering issues (in another thread in this sub forum) that may or may not be stock ESC related. I'm throwing a BEC in there because I'm upgrading my servo to something a little beefier than stock and figured it was wise.

An external BEC is always a good upgrade and it doesn't break the bank.....especially when going to a stronger servo.

...was thinking about doing the same thing. Just switched to 3s and need to wire in a BEC, currently causing repeated glitching in my otherwise perfect FXR. I wanted to pick up a CC BEC but thought that the Castle Link only works on PC? I wanted the option to program the voltage output but not sure if it'll work on my mac. Are there pre-programmed ones out there, or services where others will program for me? Or is it something I could borrow a friend's PC and be done with it? Castle Link would cost me more than the BEC itself, seems counter-intuitive.

| Re: Adding A BEC the only thing you will need todo with your old esc is disconnect the red wire from the rx plug as you dont want two bec`s trying to work the same servo as you could end up killing your esc

Yeah, I've seen this in tutorials. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions when it comes time for the install. I just ordered the CC BEC today along with a new servo and a few fasteners (trying to build a general supply.) Do I need to utilize the castle link system? | |

I concur. I may just see if my LHS has one. I'm waiting for other components to come in for my build, so I'm not in a rush. Thanks! |
