Default Advice for son's birthday

My son turns 8 next month and wants a quality r/c. Trying to decide between a SCX-10 rtr, Wraith rtr, or an EXO terra. I've pretty much ruled out the exo. I want him something to play with out in the yard and climb some rock piles. Any advice?

Scx all the way. So many choices when it comes to making it "your own". Just switching the body will make him feel as if he has a new truck. Either way, parts for both are plentiful.
Just my 2¢…
good luck!

my sons 3 and has an scx10. Started him off with a tekin 55T motor since its pretty slow until he got the hang of crawling, now he's moved up to a 35T. Ive switched the body out a couple times and added scale accessories, bumpers roof rack, bungees and sliders. He's pretty happy with it, and if needed i can always make it faster.

I agree on the SCX, Rubicon or Honcho. I have the Rubicon kit and my Honcho RTR should be here Wednesday. I also have a Wraith but the SCX is more challenging to navigate on the rocks and I like that aspect of the hobby. The Wraith is fun too but more of a point and go rig if you know what I mean.

Thanks guys. I'll probably go with the SCX. Now to decide on the Honcho or Rubicon. Too many choices. LOL! I know he will love either one.

IMO I would go with the rubicon. I think it looks better and I prefer the trepadors over the ripsaws plus I think the wheel base may be a touch longer and that makes for a better climbing rig.(well atleast it does for me)
