I just say build it and adjust to your liking once you start driving. Everyone will have different preferences, part of the fun is finding out what you like.

Plus learning what modifications actually do...try and run the same trail or rock line to see what shock adjustments work for you. I used to take notes on set ups when I ran on-road to see what the changes did and refer back to them if I wanted a specific change. If your son is old enough, get him to keep the notes...just another thing to keep the bond going.... My son and I did it, now he does it with his son....I'm so glad I did this Last edited by Postclanker; 06-05-2013 at 08:18 PM. |

What bvrc and Postclanker said is good advise. Different driving styles will dictate different set ups also. I've set up a small rock course in my yard to test shock, gearing, tires, etc. Have fun with your son.
