Default Scx10 gearing question.

Long story short, I burned up a 20T Axial motor running stock spur and pinion.
Motor was old anyway.

I have a HH TorqueMaster Expert 540 27T coming in tomorrow and I was wondering with the stock spur what pinion you would go with? I was thinking a 14 or 16?

I'm looking for a good mid point between bashing and crawling, leaning towards crawling.

I'm running a HH BR-XL, 1.9 Rock Beasts and 2s 4500mAh and 3s 2200mAh packs.

Any input would be great, Thanks.

I run 14/87....My mate runs 16/87. Both with 27t motors. I think his is ideal as sometimes I don't quite have the wheel speed he does to climb up some of the hills with loose surfaces.

(We only use 2s though)

I run 14/87 on my honcho w 3s 2200's and 4s 1300's and that's with a 27t. I love it. Great for when u need speed but still has plenty of low end torque.

I've got the stock 27t motor in my Honcho and i'm running the stock 87t supr and a 14t pinion.I love it.Loads of torque, smooth throttle control, and just enough wheel speed to make some tricker lines work.

I like between a 5:1 - 6:1 gear ratio.

Johnny,

What would that convert to with a 87T 48P spur?

Thanks.

somewhere around a 14t-16t pinion.

87/16 = 5.4:1
87/14 = 6.2:1

That seems to be the conciseness. Thanks all.
