Default new guy

so i have been thinking about the rc world for a while but just never had the money for it until a couple days ago. i bought myself a use scx10 with a mega cab body. only uprgrades is a upgraded servo. so far i have removed the shock bumpstops cleaned and regreased everything and cleaned the motor with a glass of water. heard that works pretty well. i also relocated the battery and what not for a lower center of gravity. any other suggestions other than tires? i have the stock flat irons on it now. i was thinking about the super swamper boggers. and good places to go rcing? thanks for the input guys!! im currently waiting on a charger right now but was playing with it with a decent battery. it was very glitchy and hesitant. is my rc taking a crap or just a dead battery?

Need more data. Could be rc batteries, transmitter batteries, esc, motor, or wiring.

The glitch could be a lot of things but a good place to start is a properly charged battery. The scx10 left in stock form is a great r/c that doesn't break a ton of parts. As soon as you add weight,re gear, install bigger tires, or play in water is when the problems arise. I once heard very sound advice, gear down & volt up. Everybody is happier that way. Welcome to the forum and have fun!

call me nuts, but i still like the flat irons over the pitbulls. seen/tried the pitbulls and they didn't do half as well as a good broken in set of flat irons

had to get my charger in the mail because no one carries a dean charger or adapter out here in my area so i now wait. i have pulled apart the esc and checked all the soldering and it looks good. checked everything i could think of and cleaned it up. i dont plan i putting this one in water. unless i gotta! but anyways. when you say gear down and volt up what do you mean? treat me as if i was a small child just learning how to walk lol

also one more question. should i have a cover over my engine gears and what not? when i bought the truck i didnt have one.

Yes, its not needed but it keeps dirt and dust out of them. Less noise and what not

as for your glitchy issue, make sure your power/command wires aren't anywhere near the antenna. could be a feed issue between the rx/esc as well. Probably irrelevant here, but i had similar issues trying to get a spektrum sr3000 rx to talk to a traxxas XL-5
