| stock Axial maxxis trepador tires
Last week I finished building my SCX-10 Jeep kit with many upgrades, however Rock Beasts are still out of stock so I am still running the stock plastic wheels and Maxxis Trepador tires. My problem is that under full flex the opposite tire folds over the side wall wayyy to easy, causing rollovers. Are the stock foams just pieces of crap or what? |

| Re: stock Axial maxxis trepador tires I actually just got my Lil Nova dual stage foams in the mail, and they are huge foams (compared to stock) with a hard compound on the inside so they should work way better. Waiting for Rock Beasts 1.9s to get back into stock before using them though.

Yea I would say the stock foams are junk. I mean they are ok for a light rig but if you side wall at all they will fold easily. Waiting for some funds to order more CI dual stage foams for my treps.

| Re: stock Axial maxxis trepador tires Agreed. If I had run the kit stock at all then maybe they would have worked. But i upgraded 75% of the stock kit, so its much heavier (especially with currie axles)

Once you get the a Rock Beasts, DO NOT mount them up with the stock foams. When you buy the RBs, go to Crawler Innovations and buy a set of Duece Wild foams for them. They will perform soooo much better.

How heavy is your rig? Email Eddie at Crawler innovations and see what Lil Nova foam he recommends. |

Stock foams are junk...no matter what the weight of your rig. Spend the nickel and get some CI foams, made a world of difference for me.

should also note, the stock wheels are "vented" If you put some good tape over the holes, and drill a new one, but smaller it will slow down the air flow out of the tire. Kind of give you "tire pressure" but allow for some air to escape when it gets more of the rig's weight on it.

I was pretty much going to say the same thing as JeepExplorer. i covered up my holes with CA glue and plasti dip over that. I did it more cuz i would run in water and then have a 5lb wheel for weeks and it was a b!tch to get the water out (water destroys open cell foam), but it actually helps in not having the tire fold over as well, off camber situations are a lot more survivable. my $.02 I don't have any holes in my wheels.. |
