Plus point...you can wade through deeper water. Looks more scale.

Looks tons better, sometimes a lil harder to get the same performance of axle mounted.

in my opinion,it ain't worth to mount the servo on chassis,it looses flexibility and capability of crawling

opens up another can of worms leading to more modifications... and additional monies spent. Nobody really cares about your time spent... Lol would likely need to run a track rod/bar (panhard) to keep the axle in line... especially with the 4 link front. bump steer will bring no joy... so ya gotta work that bug out too as far as scale goes... it would be a must do... IMO But for better rock crawling... keep it on the axle. buying a more powerful steering servo would be more beneficial |

I can't see my axle mounted servo. Front bumper covers it up. So scale appearance is not a concern. I can run a solid and simple 4-link suspension without issue. The servo is more efficient on the axle as well. If you are totally anal about the whole scale thing then have at it, but I personally think its a waste of time and money.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it a lot .. I think I will leave it stock location. I did it on my wraith with panhard. What a nightmare. A 426oz servo $$$$$ bump steer problems. That is y I asked the pros.

| Re: your thoughts on chassis mounted servo on honcho Good one. Hold your front tires straight and push straight down on the front. Don't push down one corner at a time. The whole front end. Your steering servo horn will move unless you have a panhard. Fact.

Power it up when you do that test. Mine doesn't move and works great. 4 link and no panhard. | |

made my cms kit from a spare tmaxx chassis i had. panhard chassis mount from a TLT link mount, and angled aluminum on the axle. zero bump steer, same amount of flex as before. cost me $0 dollars $0 in parts since i had them already, and no one cares about the time i spent lol |

I have an idea... let's all post pics of our frame mounted steering and talk about useful ideas and things we learned in the process. this way the op can decide. I'm curious to see everyones setup, (frame mounted only) especially if you took the time to build it, I'm sure many in this thread will comp you for your time with golf claps and ooh ahh's and some of these |

| Re: your thoughts on chassis mounted servo on honcho Dual golf claps for dual cms? Although somewhat an early mockup, the link geometry is mostly the same still. This way isn't my preferred method but it's low pro fo sho. Servo plates bolted to cross members, hand bros axle brackets and tlt link mount tabs for panhard to chassis. |

heres my opinion............. if its scale your going after than do it, there is no real big advantage to having a chassis mounted servo other than its more scale..i personally wouldnt do it.. why?? because i dont comp so i dont care about scale points and my rigs are built for performance not show. |

One more point to add (two days later) is that a CMS is no longer unsprung weight. It is not much, but with all our goodies we are mounting, it adds up. I would imagine that two exact same vehicles except for the CMS and the one without the cms will spend less time rubber side up.

If you're all about the scale details, go for it. These are "scalers" afterall. The HandBros CMS kit I put on my Bronco works awesome and coupled with the Vanquish VVD/Chub/Knuckle setup it turns plenty sharp and there is little to no bumpsteer. I'm currently building a Jeep and it has the same Vanquish front end setup but with their new CMS bracket and panhard setup. I wish I could get the servo on my Wraith up on the chassis too. Axle mounted servos belong on comp rigs.

Unsprung weight? Higher COG? Who cares these are scalers. I've been running my custom CMS for 2 years now with no issues what so ever. The way I see it with scale...the heavier your rig is the better. The RTR rigs are cool and all but they just bounce over bumps instead of absorbing them. Once you start adding aluminum bead locks and metal sliders/bumpers the weight wenie stuff is out the window. Sent from a rock |
