Question RC4WD's Trail Finder bumper mounts...

edit: Trail Finder

searching this was a fail on my part... sooo....

Has anyone measured these or attempted the fitting of these to the Honcho ?

They look similar in design...
but possibly the mounting holes are not aligned (measured) the same ?

Just curious as I see they offer 3 different height adjustments.
and I haven't found anything for the Honcho...
short of using lift (plate) brackets.

* note... if one turns this ^ picture upside down... you can see how they would raise the bumper mounting height.

anyone know sumthang ?
...Thanks if you do

guess I was hoping for a little more then that...

like how much wider... maybe it can be shortened ?

then... I could use a RC4WD bumpers made for the trail finder ?

seriously... nothing is worse then the stock Honcho bumper mount... grrr
and though I've seen stronger alloy mounts... they are set at stock height.

I can't believe someone hasn't mfgr'd something better for the Honcho

the tf2 bumpers fit into the stock scx10 bumper mounts, no need to buy those tf2 mounts

The TF2 bumper mounts are about a half inch wider then the SCX10 frame rails and as said above you can use the tf2 bumpers with the scx mounts.

I can also verify that, I am running a TF2 bumper on my SCX with no modifications.

ok you guys must not read before you post,, he is wanting his bumper to sit up closer to the body on his honcho, whit no real way of doing this without making some hokey lift brackets!

so his question is do they make a mount like the Vanquish one you listed but will raise the bumper up closer to the body?

see in the original post he posted a picture of various different sizes, thus allowing you to set the height of your bumper? this is what he wants,, not a bunch of stupid answers with no fix to the problem at hand,,

I think everyone missed the fact that he is after the bumper mounting height of the TF2 mounts, not the TF2 bumper itself or additional strength.

if this is true why cant you just dremel off the tabs on the outsides so it fits?

There isn't enough material to do that but you could cut them down and make some small L brackets to bolt the mount to then bolt the L brackets to the frame. And I did read his post and answered his question lol.

yep... you read it right

I already have raised the bumper by installing it on the top of the stk mount
and used tubed doweling (W/longer bolt) to raise that even farther.
Tho' it's higher and out of the way... it's purdy flimsy (flexible).

Suppose if I purchase one of those alloy mounts...
that would stiffen things up a little...
but it would still look hokey IMO.

I don't mind making modifications to an original part.
But was hoping someone would come out with a solid (alloy) mount
that rises correctly.

IMO... Axial dropped the ball on the Honcho's original frnt bumper mount.

If the TF's riser mounts are 1/2" longer and the bumper mount holes line up correctly to the Axial bumper...

I would think I could remove/replace the original end blocks with delrin blocks
that screw into the chassis and also screw in thru the front side the mount (cover plate) into the delrin block ?
^ (similar to a servo mount block)

In looking at the TF's riser mounts...
I was worried that if where the angle changes for the rise...
would leave me enough room to screw in a delrin block ?

So if someone knows that measurement span where the TF's cross member rises... that would be of some help.

Obviously no mfg'r makes what really needs to exist.

If I had a CNC machine... I'd be on it.

anyone want to share what they did to raise their Honcho's front bumper ?

^ I'd like to keep the stock plastic junk...
as that offers some flex... whereas a metal bumper wouldn't absorb impact.

i am running the jeep body right now so im not having the ugly issue you are with the honcho body,, but when i had my honcho, i just cut 2 pieces of flat plate metal and drilled 4 holes, 2 holes to mount it to the fram where the stock bolts where then 2 holes above that for the cross member to mount to,, at the height i wanted,, then i took a piece of plactic rod off of the spare parts tree, cut it to fit as a new cross member and screwed everything together,, it worked really well for wat it was but like you say it still looks kind of gooffy,,

i could fab you up some of these plates if you wanted man,, also i know you can find them on ebay

i agree i think this should work dude,, the spacing on the flat part befor the bend looks to be the same,, the bend is all that looks to be longer,,

making a derlin block will work i think just make shur to mount it up good and tight dont see a problem in this set up,,

It might be just me, but I think that's too tall, body and bumper. I lowered my Honcho body and trimmed the fenders a little to get that same look without raising the COG. I see what you're going for, but the fender gap is too big for me. Just my .02.

I think the bumper needs be that high up.
my preference of course...
but for 1:1 scale this bumper height is close to correct...
and in my case... the upper hoop would protect the radiator
in the event of a roll over. (yeah, I realize this RC has no radiator)

as far as my honcho's front ride height...
I think that the fact the rear tires are 3" lower off the concrete
makes the front end's suspension look taller...
as the rear is lower and more squat in this picture.

Currently the tires stuff all the way into the front/rear wheel wells
during articulation.

as far as lowering the body some...
I don't want to cut more fender out...
as that will look even lesser to scale.

My Honcho is still fairly lite...
but in time... weight will get added...
then the Losi soft CO springs will squat a little more.
But I couldn't find a softer CO spring for my current CO's
then Losi's softest springs made to fit my Tmaxx OB 100mm CO's

In other words... it's just that picture that's deceiving.
btw... the front body mounts are set at their lowest position.

some pictures showing that articulation (compression/droop)...

here's a pic of the current ride height...
* additional weight is going to squat this some more.

What did you wind up doing? I want to mount the tf2 push bar to an scx10 while using the universal outside rail mounts to mount a metal C-channel bumper. Not sure if it'll work because of the ? regarding how to fit these mounts inside scx rails.
