Question RC4WD's steel rod ends (Heims)

Is anyone using these on their SCX-10 ?

Steely M3 Bent Rod End (Heim Joint)

Steely M3 Rod End (Heim Joint)

I read thru multitudes of search results that many folk use the Traxxas Revo rod ends !?

But in looking at those...
the upper center rod ends don't have a angled bend in them.
Is that bend not required ?

Obviously I want to replace the stock ends
that came with my upgraded Axial alloy link kit.
There's already play in those after afew hours use
and it causes the servo horn to hit the front cross member mount.

Yeah I read that many folk simply trim the cross member for clearance...
But that wouldn't eliminate the slop in the link end's ball...
which causes castor angle change during susp. travel.

Just wondering if anyone is using the RC4WD steel rod ends (heims)
or recommend something else ?

thanks ahead.

Yes I'm a SCX-10 noob

In my search...
some users posting in threads...
would generically state the Revo Traxxas rod end kits work...

well they don't fit the Axial upgrade link kit rods/insert threading.
They are much larger and would require custom link rods made.
Maybe more... dunno

Anywho... after finding out the hard way...
figured I'd post the correct Traxxas ball end kit to get...
These are what will fit the Axial SCX10 with their upgraded alloy links.

Traxxas # 1942 (16 long balls and 4 short balls, steel)
all the plastic end links are the same length.

^ the Traxxas plastic ball link ends are slightly longer then the Axial ball ends...
so they may need some material removal off the ends...
to keep the rod lengths the same.

just sayin'

* at the common opinion of the majority...
I will disregard the idea of steel link ends

Next time around build your own and use the traxxas revo rod ends, you can build them for about $30 and that includes the steer links to, almost bulletproof.

yeah yer right... will be looking for you when that time comes

but honestly... tho' they would be tougher...
they are kinda large for any close resemblance of scale...
and their link rods would need be/and look kinda burly as well... no ?

these smaller traxxas rod ends will do I think
I was really after the steel ball inserts mostly.

The original Axial plastic balls become sloppy prematurely.

SuperMan had ballz of steel !?

thought I should too !

I use those straight heim joints on all my lowers. I've been using them for 2 years plus, the get lots of wear sloppy, but function just fine! On the uppers I've been using the stock plastic pivots, but with metal ball sockets. They have lasted about 1 season ( spring to fall). I use the axial links uppers and lowers.
