Default Tire for Hire Dingo Build Progression

The wrong dog bone shipped in my kit. Axial replaced them free and sent me an extra set.

Finally got my replacements and finished the chassis assembly.

Light can reflectors. It's just foil.

I think they are pretty convincing.

Time for paint!

Fast Mask works out pretty good.

Scale shackles cut from cotter pins. These are attached with body clips for now.

Going Fishing!

Some home made rigging, and you can see that there are parts of the green paint that didn't adhere very well. It bubbled up in the corners. I have cut the bubble and resprayed it since this picture.

Mocking up the Grille, I hate those crappy stickers.

The mesh is from a pencil tray that I found at the 1$ store, The rest is fabricated from polystyrene.

Polystyrene cut and test fit. going for something like this.

Did you cut out the area where the sticker would be and then inlay the mesh and styrene? It looks great.

Yup sure did. I mocked it up using black electrical tape to hold it all together. Then when I was happy with it I used shoe goo to glue it all together.

Thanks!

I was looking for off white or a light tan, Not the most popular color at the hobby shop. So I opted for the pearl green. It's my first attempt at painting an RC body, So I'm pretty happy.

Is that tinfoil in the light buckets? I though of doing that, then I found foil tape like they use on your furnace pipes. Works much easier.

Today was very productive hobby wise, honey do wise, not so much... LOL!

I finalized the grille installation, and added the circle emblem.

I also remade the headlight surrounds, adding vents, the light cans from the bumper, and painted them gun metal gray. I will be adding turn signal lenses and winch.

You can see my paint repair here.

Oh and between waiting for glue and paint to dry I made a few scale accessories.

Yup there is a 6 channel receiver in there. plan on using my DX6i.

Magnets self center the body, and It's held in place with the bumpers. I use body clips to secure both bumpers so I can take the body off easily.

Front

Back

Dingo gets a Drop Top. Its fastened with scale bungee cords for easy removal.

Targa, with roll bar pads

Full Top

Right on. I can't get out during work, (must be nice) but an hour or two on a week end would work.

Under the hood..

four link.

Batteries.

FXR

Steering Servo...
I ditched the dual rate springs and went with my version of a partial droop.

This is full extension

I thought tilting tha battery as far forward as possible wouldn't hurt.
