Default Crawler Weight?

I was wondering what a good average overall weight for a scx crawler is. I know that a little extra weight can help with traction, but too much would obviously not be good. What do you guys think?

I used to run lots of wheel weight but I'm getting away from it now. Lighter rigs are more lively to drive and tend to handle better. Less rotating mass is good for the drive train and for acceleration. My scx's tend to be right around 7lbs.

I'm not sure what's obvious here ??? Heavy weight???
Mine is about 8lbs 13oz....and I like em a bit heavy. A lighter rig seems to bounce around a bit too much for me...

think mine is near 7 lbs.
but I swear it eats too good...
'cause it keeps gaining more weight !?

If fast is your thing... prolly shouldn't own a crawler IMO.

But if spirited is what ya want...
then any added weight will become the enemy.

For a slo mo crawler...
added weight can help with traction.
preferably less weight on the chassis... more on the axles/tires.

* added weight wears parts out prematurely tho'

Thing to remember is...

the heavier they are... the harder and farther they fall (tumble). Lol

^ breaks more parts when 'dat happens

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I just weighed my dingo - it's right at 7.5lbs with body, battery, etc. I really don't care much for speed at all - I want to be able to crawl well. I cant remember how much weight I have on my aluminum wheels. Would adding another pound or two really make a difference in traction?

My Dingo is around 10 lbs, and it's not finished. I don't think it will be much more than 11 lbs when it's done. Ripsaws, with stock foams look half inflated with that weight.

weight is one of those things that its all personal opinion... if you believe you need to add another 30# and 12 shocks per tire then by all means do it try it out and see if that's what works best for you...
