Default How much wider is the XR mod ?

Want to do this but don't want a wider track. I have heard it adds 1.24 in. if you use the wide tubes and stock XR axles. or 1/2 in if using the stock tubes but how do you do the short tubes? just cut the XR axles down ?

I have done the XR10 steering mod twice. I haven't noticed a wider track. Since you cut the XR10 universals there is no noticeable wider track. On my Toyota (post 347) I used a BTA setup. I also modified the steering on my current Jeep (post 2 build.

Even if you don't want a wider track you may need some wider wheel hexes to clear the shock with the inside of the tire. On my Toyota I used Traxxas wheel hexes so my track hardly changed much and on my Jeep I'm using G-made (red) hexes.

If you don't use wheel wideners your tire will barely rub the shock spring.

I don't want to go much wider, 1/2 = 1/4 in per side might not be too bad.

To me it was noticeable on my Hilux. Before I wouldn't get rubbing, with the XR10 steering I get serious rubbing at full turn/articulation now because the tire no longer stuffs under the fender but now it runs right into it.

It is 1/4" per side. I love the amount of steering it gives but you do have to tweak things a little to get things 'right'. With the increase in steering too, now my tires rub on my shocks at full turn as well so I had to adjust EPAs. Great mod none the less though. I have it on all 4 rigs lol.

I used Traxxas Hex Wheel Hubs on my Toyota and now the tires barely touch the shock spring.

Yeah this just widens the track even more. Which if thats what you want then that works and thanks for the link. If you want the steering and keep it narrow thats when it becomes tricky.
