Default Axial Wraith Front Sway Bar on the scx10 platform

I picked up one of these front sway bar kits for my scx10. It carries a lot of weight up on the chassis and body with all the accessories added in. My idea was to mount it to the rear axle to calm down the body but still retain enough flex for trailing and crawling. The combination of super soft and soft springs with 60w oil, and a single axle sway bar I think did the trick. I have had a few days to drive it in some mountainous terrain and test the articulation, stability and roll points all with great results.

Is anyone else having good results with a sway bar??

i think there are lots of guys running swaybars when they convert over to AR60 axles. really helps with stability.

Perkolator - Yep that makes sense, those axles are much heavier than the scx10 stocks.

That's pretty sweet. Does it flex less with that on there?

Yes it will decrease the amount of flex on the axle it is mounted to *Depending* on the weight over the axle and the provided bar in kit being used.

Less weight will decrease the articulation
More weight will twist the bar further giving it more articulation

Main thing this was for was to keep the chassis from
flopping over when it's turning and when it articulates.

My front axle still fully articulates and the rear goes about 60%.

One thing I really liked was when the bar is at its max twisting point it pulls the suspension upwards which lower the C.O.G.

The truck was able to pull 6" of articulation without it now its still about 5" or soda can height.

Do you happen to know the part numbers for the sway bars. Checking the Axial site, they only had two sets. Wraith or Exo. Or can one of those be used on the SCX.

I use the hot racing ones for the wraith. I have used these on 2 of my scx10's. Main reason is because you get front and rear for the same price as one axial.

I was able to find them for 16$ shipped in single kit form. I know the HR dual kit is 30$ right?

Yes they are something like that. I usually have a use for a sway bar kit that's why I opted to buy the pair. You can never have too many parts.....lol

Mines setup to not limit articulation at all. Just keep the rig more stable in all conditions since I run such soft springs.

Ohioskills yes that's the main impact it has on the suspension - it can be made so its not a negative on suspension flex though

My reason to do this was, with the super soft and soft springs im using the whole chassis would flop over when turning and flexing on approach. 1 rear shock would collapse fully before a front shock could reach 1/2 compression and the weight up top would drag the body over into a roll over.

Now with this sway bar I can use less preload, keeping the stability and inheriting lower center of gravity. It also helps keep weight over both front tires which aids steering.

What kind of cross bar are you using? Looks nice a thin - not like the Axial and HR kit bar.

Its 1/16th piano wire cut to size and ground down some flats. The included ones are waaaay to stiff for scx width axles
