| Rc4wd 2speed trans and scx10 driveshaft issues.
So i have an rc4wd 2 speed laying around for my wraith build and I decided to try it in my scx10. The thing is that with the trans install with the factory plate holes, the front driveshaft is too long so i took the small driveshaft that came as option with my scx10 and they are still tool long and the angle if the yoke vs drivenshaft make it impossible to work Is there any way it can work? Does the axial metal yoke would help? Is there a special way to mount the drive shaft that maybe I wasn't aware of? Thanks guys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I had that issue. I now have the stock trans.

I mirrored my tranny and bought Junfac drive shafts. No issues. I did have to cut down one of the stock shafts though, easy.

Switch to a TMaxx driveshafts and cut to length. These worked great for me in an EXTREMELY short, high angle rear driveshaft situation on my only SCX YJ. Driveshafts and joints - TRA4951X 5mm Outputs - TRA4927X The outputs will work for trans side and axle side, this particular part # is also already 5mm so all you have to do is drill out the flat spots on the inside. Depending on how the trans outputs are you may have to cut that side down a bit but once you have these shafts on there you will have no problems. |

You can actually see how steep my angles were here: TreyS1's Wrangler YJ No problems out of the Tmaxx shafts in that truck. |

I had the same issue in my Dingo after I installed the AX-2. I just shortened up the rear shaft and was fine. At full droop I think I'm pretty close to the max operating angles of the driveshafts, but I don't plan to go with longer shocks or anything so I'm fine. I can post pictures tonight when I get home if you'd like.

i don't have one, but looking at the pic - wouldn't you gain close to a cm if you simply flip the tranny around 180* due to location of offset mounting holes? (gears/servo toward the rear) i could see that helping out with front d-shaft angles, as well as clocking the front axle.

I took the stock shafts cut them with a razor blade and put a wood dowl pin( cant think of size off the top of my head but if you go to home depot with your drive shaft just test fit they are cheap and work pretty well. how ever i have shredded two of them already so im looking at junfac carbon steel drive shafts. Just my .02$

Bump thread from dead. Just installd an AX2 in my dingo wheelbased SCX10. Skid is in the factory location and not mirrored. I chopped up a stock short shaft from my kit build but managed to pretzel it. Also, i was binding quite bad. These T-maxx shafts still fit the bill? Went ahead and ordered 2 of the output shaft yokes and 1 driveshaft per the P/N listed above. ANd being from the T-maxx, i assume they'll stand up to brushless? It was rubbing on the 60 tooth spur. Dropped down to a 54t I had. Had to bring the pinion up to a 14 for proper engagement. 11 didn't touch, and 13 was still too loose. So I dropped down to 54/14 but also stepped back down to 2s. I LOVE the speed it has now and still runs slow enough. Have to take it out on the trail bit seems good so far. Hope I don't overheat the motor. |
