Default Project "Bushwhacker"

I started this build about 6 weeks ago with the intent of customizing a Dingo body as much as possible. Its been a blast and I wanted to share it with you guys here.

I started with a stock dingo kit which I immediately upgraded to aluminum 4 link front and rear. The first custom mod I wanted to tackle was a topper. Using .080 styrene I made a jig and started bending.

one sheet wasn't quite long enough so I had to weld on an extention

For paint, I wanted to go with a snow/urban camouflage. I made each mask for each color blotch one by one, which was a bit time consuming, took a week to get the body painted, lol.

but once I got that done and had the cage bolted to the body I could finish up my topper

Once I got that far I decided to chop it up!!!

this is a test fit of a wraith interior and buckets

created some door panels and a platform on the rear that it will get screwed to.

and this is the interior once I got it all painted up.

you can see where I attached it in the back, also put 2 screws into the door panels near the dash

Next, thanks to my generous brother I have some power for this rig. These are over 12 years old but brand new in the box!

I have a 3S lipo for it. so I had to get a smartstop cutoff for the old ESC

immediately went about waterproofing!

I ran the battery in the rear and used the front posts to make an ESC tray

Next up is the Reign RC headlight bezels and grill with axial light buckets installed

next the LEd's 18 of them all together, all running off one axial simple light controller

The next custom bit is lamp guards. made some first out of styrene, but they were far to weak. so I got some brass tubing and c-channel and soldered these together, tough as nails now

Then I decided to make some wheel wells for a bit more scale look.

The rest is some exterior detail work, installed a safari snorkel, pro-line cargo rack, with axial light buckets, some diamond plate on the kicks and fenders, made a wood storage box for the rack and some sleeping bags and a bikini top out of a bandana, 3racing winch with King Kong tow hook. also some bungies and tow line. Oh and a camo rifle and shotgun for my pilot and co-pilot who are of course Bushwhackers!

With the extras this rig now weighs over 7.5lbs and the stock springs and Ripsaws. weren't up to the task. so I upgraded both. Went with RC4WD 1.9 IROK super swampers to go on my Gmade wheels.

This is truly a piece of work here. amazing that there is a lexan Dingo body in there somewhere.

Are the tail light LEDs and housings part of the lighting kit you bought, or did you buy them separately? If so where? I'm looking for just that.

fantastic job...

Thanks for posting!
