Default Going to purchase SCX10 Kit, need advice.

So after having to sell my Jeep last summer I have been craving some off roading action. I decided what better way to feed some of those cravings than to purchase a scaler Jeep. I already have an Axial Exo and love that thing to death so I know I am going with Axial.

I have a budget of around $400, so I am going to get some extra stuff with it. Here is what I am planning on purchasing:

Axial SCX10 Rubicon Kit: $300
Axial 1.9 8 Hole Beadlock Wheels: $36
Holmes 27T Trail Master Sport 540: $12
Total: $348

Now I am going to tell you that I don't really plan on doing alot of rock crawling with this. I mainly want this to be a trail runner vehicle. Climb some hills, bust some creeks, tear through some mud etc. Because of this I plan on waterproofing the heck out of this thing.

I already have an ESC, Radio, and receiver but I do not have a servo. So my main question is what is a good servo I can put in this thing that won't break my $400 budget (got about $50 left) but also will give the strength to handle 4wd off roading.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to enjoying my new Jeep.

For a SCX10 you should have servo with at least 300ox of torque.

I would look at the Hitec HS-7954SH which you can find on line for around $85 and the Savox SC-1268MG which is around $95.

With either of these servos you will need a CC BEC which adds another $20.
You will also end up buying a metal clamping style servo horn which is around $12

On a budget... the Solar D772 comes up strong.
lots of torque... tho' I'm not sure how durable/reliable they are.

I was gonna try one...
But then... I already have several other servo's as spares
and haven't justified picking one of these up yet.

Think these cost under $ 20.

google them and you'll see.

word is...
they are kinda noisy and get a little warm at higher voltage settings.

If you get one of these...
you can still afford the Castle BEC (recommended if ya don't have one)

Hitec HS5645MG, dont need a external BEC and it even comes with a aluminum horn.

That is definitely something to check out. With only about 165oz of torque though, is it going to be strong enough to turn my wheels and tires?

Will definitely check this one out too! With that price I could afford 2 of them

And these BEC, what do they do and why should I purchase one?

I've got a d772 with a y harness I made that draws power right from the 2s lipo battery. it is noisy, it gets alittle warm(nothing close to what I would think of as hot but noticeably warm). I've had out on a 3 hour trail run and 4 hours bashing thru the woods at the campground and maybe 10-15 more hours of just goofing climbing and major tumbles. and as far as I can tell its as good as the day I got it. I've never had a "good" servo so I can't compare but the thing is working fine so far.

Sweet, I might purchase 2 and throw the other one in my Exo. Been looking to upgrade my Exo steering servo.

if you do get these ,stock up on gears there not very strong. by something decent so you wont break it after a few runs. its not very reliable for the 10.

ask me how I know

I have used both the HS-645MG and the HS-646WP with a BEC @ 7.4V. Only killed 1 645 on an SCX10 with 2.2's, no issue when running 1.9's. I also never broken a Chub or knuckle on an SCX10 either, so maybe I am just too kind to my rigs
