| Shocks on my scx10 rubicon keep or revert back to stockers
Hello all, I mocked up the rc4wd 100mm king shocks and put them on to see how they fit. Not sure if I like the +10mm of lift for a trail rig. I'll let you more experienced guys here on the forum tell me what you think. Keep or put stockers back on! Thanks! Here's some pics! |

I'm running the 110mm king offroad shocks, I'm running the rc4wd 1.9 boggers, trail/crawler I was going for a old school truck with a modern suspension twist, running weight in the wheels doesn't tip over much, I'm pretty happy with the flex as well. |

I don't think it looks too tall really.

I think it looks just fine. In fact I think I might pick up a set myself to go with my new 1.9 boggers.

keep them and get some super swampers XL and it will fill up that wheel well I'm expecting my Losi 4" shocks to arrive shortly and with the super swampers or the MT Baja Claws they will look good |

The extra travel is nice to have. Try running them with less preload or with drop brackets to lower it a tad if you want it lower

I don't have these rc4wd co's... But I do utilize 100 mm co's and I think they fit and work purdy good. If yer springs have you at a higher ride height then you like... You could maybe locate/switch to softer springs ? Softer springs would squat slightly and reduce ride height... but still offer the axle travel that is wanted. That... or add some weight to the chassis. I know my junk seems to get heavier with each new modification I use 100 mm Traxxas BB plastic shocks with Losi soft springs... and can pre-load the collars some if need be. If those become too soft... (if I get any heavier) I can bump them up with a med spring. * I pre-load the driver's rear slightly more then the other three... this helps reduce torque twist some. BTW... I don't think yer rig looks too tall. When the axle's are fully articulated... It looks like the tire will stuff fully without rubbing the body !? no ? What about lowering the body on the chassis slightly ? Or is that already at it's lowest mounting position ? |

I have the 100mm Kings on my Rubicon and they look and work great. The Treps barely rub at full articulation. I run mine with a little less preload so it squats a little more but has the full droop when the tires fall into a hole or something on the rocks. Make sure you run thick fluid in there, I have these and a set of 80mm on my MOG and I'm running 70 and 80wt. The holes in the pistons are huge and the lighter oil has the tendancy to blow through the travel stroke very quickly, giving the illusion that there is no fluid in there at all. |

Bogncrawl, nice ride! I like old trucks like that. Okay so the general consensus is that the ride height looks good. I was just concerned about CoG and having that additional 10mm of lift. In that pic, the preload is adjusted to let the truck settle. Well I guess I am on to getting more scale accessories and other items.

Thanks, adding a little bit of weight in the wheels will help out, I'd say my rig isn't the greatest on a steep incline when trying to go on a angle but its all on the throttle control and I seem to do pretty good

Now what other accessories should I add to this vehicle? Placing order and going to lhs tomorrow.

Tacocrawler the body is about at its lowest point. Tires will just rub at full articulation. Hopefully I'm going the right direction with this build. Its going to be a trail rig.

But with some suspension squat... and with weighted wheels... it rolls side hills purdy good. too much squat could have you flopping to the left or right in turns/side hills... but just a little squat... and it works good. Mine squats about one third of the total compression. I also pre-load the driver's rear co slightly more then the others... so as to compensate for that dreaded torque twist. Works well enough that I haven't bothered with the tranny mirror/flip thingy. Last edited by TacoCrawler; 08-29-2013 at 10:07 PM. | |

I've found that 90mm travel is perfect for my SCX Honcho.
