Default need some idea's or suggestions

Ok I took my SCX10 Honcho, and put the GCM motor forward kit and hard pan kit, and now I'm not sure where to mount my esc and receiver box, I hoping that maybe some one give me some ideas or suggestions,

I had buy a new body, since the Honcho won't work in more, So XXXX Crawlers had new RTR Axial Rubicon bodies, cheap so I got one, and a new stock rear bumper, they didn't have the front, but I ordered one, I put my cut down Honcho bumper with the four headlights it don't look to bad, and I mounted my light bar off of my Honcho, I had left over mounts from my EXO kit I built, I'm not a big Jeep fan, but it is pretty cool, and the rear bumper swings out, that's cool also, I seen when looking online the make a soft top, I got some aluminum sheeting and some sheet metal, could make template out sheet metal, until its trimmed and fits good then I make one out aluminum plate.

How much room do you have from the jeep side to the tranny. If alot I put a box with everything in it and waterproofed it and it sits on the rock sliders.

I mounted my receiver box on top of the rear shock tower brace and my esc on one of the sliders after making a plate to sit on the slider.

Order up some JK sliders from R2J Customs and checkout my thread "Rubicon in the Burgh".

out of curiosity, why does the Honcho body not work with the GCM front mount? is it because the mounting holes are now further apart?

for mounting electronics, consider moving your battery tray to the front of the rig, behind the motor and put either battery or electronics on there - basically opposite the skid where it is now. then install another battery plate between rear shock towers, like battery is on dingo and rubicon setups. other option is install electronics on sliders.

the honcho body will not work, because the bed sits in between the rear shock tower, and you can not fit the radio box in front of rear shock towers, the body hits, that's why I went with a Rubicon body, I can put my battery where it is in the pictures and not hit, the honcho it hits, cause my battery mount was behind the front shock loops but the motor and drive lines are there now, I ll figure out some, I want the electrical clean with out wires every where, so I will think of some thing, I could use smaller batteries, but I won't, I'll keep my 2s 5000 mah lipo's. I was think a of a plate like the trail finder 2 with the esc and battery mount. need to do some research.

I was planning on making a plate for each slider and running 2 small batteries there in parrelel. gets the weight alittle lower and spread out side to side to help with side hilling? least thats how it will work in my head.

These things fit the Rubicon body like a glove and open up all kinds of options to place things.

ok gdb85 I remember now, I asked about the GCM kits awhile back, I like your radio box/ battery mount plate, I might have steal that idea, and make mine a little different, so the smaller lipo is for your two light bars correct ??? what is the voltage and milliamps, cause I got two Axial light controllers, one for the four headlights on the front honcho bumper, and five lights on the light bar and four brake lights, and was think of running a separate battery, I made a box to put the light controllers in with switches to turn them off/on, maybe I can reuse it, or make a new one but bigger. or go to Radio Shack and look at project boxes

The small blue battery is a 2s for the remote winch. The black batery is no longer there, I have a 3s 1100, it powers 2 VP Rigid light bars and I use a low voltage alarm just to make sure I don't drain the battery.

I've also got my WP BRXL mounted on that slider also but you cant see it in the pic.

I can't say enough good things about those sliders.

any way I was thinking some thing like the trail finder 2 plate in the pic, for the esc, receiver, light controllers.

Ok I think I got it now, need to make a stand off for the plate I added, and make a mount for the esc on/off switch. And in the black box is my receiver and two light controllers, needs a little work, but I get it dialed in, I didn't like the spare tire mount on the bumper, so I drilled out the plastic piece the tire mount pins to the body, its up a lot higher and looks good, I like it.

Hey gdb85 I noticed your using the Proline aluminum shocks like I have, but have grey springs, are those the stock Scx10 springs???.Can I ask since you put the motor forward kit on,do you have more pre-sage ???, what weight oil are you using ???, I bought some slime and was going change springs and put some fresh oil in them. And use the stock Scx10 springs and maybe add a little heavier oil, so I'm curious what your shock setup is ???, if don't mind sharing ???. Cause the stock Prolines springs seem to be a bit too soft now that motor forward kit has been installed, and I want to stiffen them up a little, and was hoping that changing springs and adding a heavier oil would do the trick or at least be a good starting point.

I did have the Prolines at first and yes they were the Axial springs, they worked much better than prolines. I was using 60 wt up front and 40 wt out back.

I have switched to the King Off Road shocks now for about 2 months (100mm) and I'm running 80 wt up front and 60 wt in the rear. The holes in the pistons are "gigantic" and the lighter wt oil was blowing thru the stroke way too fast.

I really like the way it works now.
