Poison spyder bumper issue I just installed the swing out tire carrier onto Buster and I am having some issues with it. the entire bumper flexes and sags away from the body. Did I miss something during assembly or is this normal? http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/a..._VIDEO0012.jpg http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMAG0143.jpg http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMAG0142.jpg |

Re: Poison spyder bumper issue This is normal of that bumper. Its due to the weight of the spare tire. |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue Since Buster was a dingo how would I attach the upper bar to the body? Also if the upper bar is fixed how does the tire carrier swing out? |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue There is a body clip that attaches the tire mount and keeps the tire from swinging out. Looks like you'll have to get creative to attach it. |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue Have you tried fixing a strong magnet to the inside of the body? Right where the hole of the screw that secures the tire to the carrier would be? Maybe the magnetic force will somehow pull the head of the screw towards the body? Good luck. |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue Does your spare have weight in it? |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue I'm going to give the magnet idea a try if I can't come up with a solution to mount an upper bar. And no the spare tire doesn't have weight in it. The plastic wheel that it is on is considerably lighter than the stock bead lock. |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue 1 Attachment(s) Looks like I may have the same issue once I get a tire for mine, let us know what you find out. Thanks |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue The stock dingo rear bumper mount is much thinner and smaller than the one that comes with the poison spyder bumper. On my dingo I changed out the mount and bumper and have had no problems. http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3fefe846.jpg |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue you can see here how the poison spyder bumper mount is reinforced to take the extra weight dingo bumper tree http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psaac79198.jpg poison spyder bumper tree http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psb02ea5d1.jpg |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue Thanks for posting that, it puts my mind at ease. Mine is the Poison Spyder bumper mount |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue I hope you guys have all the luck with just the JK mount but I know on my JK's that when the clip was out, the carrier would sag down. A big contributor to the thicker bumper mount is that it's set up to accept an Anti-Sway bar. |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue mine does that but when you clip it to the cage it holds it upright... |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue The Vanquish SCX10 JK Rear bumper mount solves the problem of the bumper mount twisting from the weight of the spare tire. Axial SCX / JK Rear Bumper mount Black |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue It's not really the bumper mount flexing, its the spare mount flexing. |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue I just change the amount out to the poison spyder unit and it is still flexing. I am going to have to figure out how to attach the upper tire mount to the body. Unfortunately the magnet idea was not strong enough to hold the tire in place. Any ideas for a removable brace so that the tire carrier can still open? |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue You could try running a longer screw through the body into the spare mount which hold the tire on. Then to get the boddy off just unscrew the tire mount wingnut and slide it out. |
Re: Poison spyder bumper issue You could also try to brace it with some aluminum. just trying to think outside the box. |
