| shocks for an scx...?
I have one that I need shocks for, normally I would get soft wraith springs for traxxas shocks, but with the scale appearance of this truck I want a skinnier bodied shock that wont pour oil out and provide tuneable dampning. im running the stock junk shocks on it now and have already tried the slime on the o ring seal method, and using grease instead of shock oil. do I need to break the bank for the proline's or is there a better option? do the aluminum shocks off the rubicon kit leak as bad?

Unfortunately, there is no real cheap great shock. The stock axial shocks are okay, but not great. (As you already know) RC4wd has some nice shocks like the King shocks, the axial Icon shocks are nice, but dont know how they are for leakage. I would think that they are pretty good and smooth. I have read mixed reviews on the proline shocks. 90mm is stock length, just as a fyi.

How about the Junfac Gmade XD Piggyback Shock? Are they not scale?

The GMades are nice, but too big to be scale unless on a Wraith or larger rig.

I didn't realize they were that big. How much bigger are they from stock, and what is bigger on them?

The G made shocks are available in different lengths, but the shock itself is larger in diameter as is the spring. Stock tires may rub on springs of the Gmade. It would be like the difference of a associated shock vs. a traxxas big bore shock. A couple of mm in diameter makes all the difference for fitment. Gmade shocks will fit if you increase your track width ( ie wheels further away from the centerline of vehicle) this will also add stability

G-made 103mm piggybacks on my SCX10 and truggy. I have never had my tires rub and if built right, no leaks. They are to big really for scale but perform great and are highly adjustable. I like them |

Yea I would stick with the prolines or king shocks, the gmade shocks are great as well but usually bigger than a "scale" shock

The stock axial shocks are okay, but not great. Last edited by patteruz; 09-12-2013 at 02:42 AM. |

Nice Chevy Norton. In those pics, the shocks don't look oversized. |
