I was having the same idea myself, I'm building a mudbogger Rubicon and the more clearance the better.

I had a set in my scx10 with a newbright jk body a few years ago, you get a bit more clearance under the diff, but they are wider than the scx10 diff's and to keep the whole thing looking right I had to drop the suspension down which gave it almost no uptravel.

Why did you have trouble finding rims, I ran the original RC4WD steel rims on mine with hex hubs.

It was to wide.I wanted more narrow then wide. The inner beadlocks hit the kncukles so that killed everthing.

Nice but the gear reduction unit still is out in the open the rim should cover that up atleast.

My post was for the OP.

For the wheels you will need to use internal beadlocks to clear portals. You run into problem of inner ring.

Here is one I completed a few months ago. Pretty straightforward, watch pinion angle and use hardened steel drive shafts if your planning on brushless power. Feel free to ask any questions, I have a few build pics that may help.

SCX10/R1 Hybrid goes BRONCO!
