Default Blue Monkey RC scx10 cms install guide

I received this kit the other day and figured since there weren't any straight forward install instructions I would give a little write up on how I did mine.

I am not a BMRC team driver, or affiliated with them. This is just a friendly how to thread that hopefully will help anyone with questions.

First off ill start by saying this kit is very beefy, the aluminum is very stout, comes pre threaded for 3mm hardware and the ti links are very nicely done.

Tools I used:
Needle nose pliers
2mm hex head driver
Razor knife

Hardware:
1:3x4mm screw
12: 3x6mm screws
2: 3x10mm screws
1: 3x14mm screw
A handful of 3mm locknuts

Upon arrival the kits looks like this

First step:
Remove bumper, both chassis braces, servo mount from axle the 3link mount and the receiver box.

PLEASE NOTE IN THIS PIC I HAD THE MOUNT ON THE OPPOSITE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!!

Nonetheless less, slide the mount in and secure the shock mounts to the chassis and cms mount with 2 3x6mm screws

On the none panhard mount side of the chassis, secure the front shock mount with a 3x6 screw and locknut, then secure the front of the cms to the chassis with a 3x6 screw.

Next pics: mount is facing the correct way
On the panhard mount/servo side of the mount secure the front of the shock mount with a 3x4 screw and locknut. ( This is so it will clear the servo, I sanded down a 3x6 screw to 3x4)

Next, to mount the panhard mount line up the holes with the mount and chassis.
In the hole closest to the bumper you will use a 3x10 screw through the panhard mount into the cms mount. In the back hole I used a 3x6 screw and was abile to thread it through the hole In The chassis for a nice solid mounting point.

Next secure the axle mount with 2 3x6 screws

Then mount your servo using 4-3x6 screws NOTE: I had to shave 2 little nubs off the front off the servo case for it to sit flush, this is where the razor knife came in.

Next you'll need 4 revo rod ends to make up the panhard bar and tierod

Next mount the panhard bar(the short one) to the axle mount using the 3x14 screw and to the chassis mount with a 3x10 screw.

Mount the tierod to your servo with a 3x10 screw and to the knuckle, the stock hardware should work here.

Now: missed the pic but for the time being I am using the stock 3link mount, this is the point where I reinstalled it and the upper links

I also remounted the receiver box using 2 3x6 screws at the cms mount and stock hardware at the chassis mounting points

Not the greatest write up I know, but this should get you headed in the right direction.

All in all I will be buying another kit for my next build this is a great product.

Couple flex and drop out shots:

Steve, I think your missing mount on the axle for upper link ? Unless you didn't show it in your pics ?

Does the nut on servo horn hit or rub on steering link at throw or compressed ?

Ya it's on there I forgot the pic,

At full throw to the left( right if you're looking at pic.) the nut jut touches at full lock but that's cause the servo horn is plastic another horn that I can can run the screw up from the bottom to the horn will eliminate that

It touches when the shock is fully compressed, I have no external limiting on the shocks.

They're 88mm and I was wrong, at full compression the panhard just touches the chassis the draglink has around 2mm of clearance, I think it was the angle I took the pic.

question!

if you are running the VP Zero Ackerman High Steer Arms/Knuckles- do you need longer steering links or will the standard ones work?
I see on the Blue Monkey site he offers the option for 8*knuckles- is this the option to choose if running standard zero ackerman high steer?
RPP hobby does not offer that option for purchase

Looks like the kit can install in either direction since yours looks to work, and the one in the BMRC thread is going the opposite way.

Nice, will a servo winch drop right in next to the steering servo? Looks like it should, but the offset in the mount is throwing me off. I'm sure with my XR conversion I'll be making all my own links.
Looks like a nice piece, might have to give it a look.

The stock scx10 shocks are 90mm but with bump stop the are like 10mm big that put it at like 80mm so that means no flex.

It might, I think that's why BMRC was promoting the use of the the kmart winch. Ill toss a servo in,And see what it looks like as far as everything lining up

Looks like my setup..... Only issue I see with bmrc is the lower Panhard mount running beeftubes. There's not enough plastic to secure the lower mount with beeftubes in.
